Summary

When a man has nothing to lose, what else is there left but truth? 
Accused of a heinous crime he didn't commit, Portland vice cop Denny Lawton is exchanged with a Lancashire detective precinct in Preston to keep him aloof of the investigation. 
On his first day in Blighty, he catches the case of the brutal murder of Annie Love, a local girl loved by all. It's clear to Denny who is responsible for this heinous act, but fear of offending the wrong people keeps mouths closed and the truth imprisoned.
