Joy is closer than you think because God is better than you may believe!
We live in a culture that either tries to connect feelings of joy to empty and broken pleasures, or else it makes us feel guilty for feeling joyful at all. But both extremes are corruptions of the call to gladness that God gave us.
With infectious humor, delight, and unfaltering wisdom, Candace Payne (aka "Chewbacca Mom") reveals biblical insights that lead to unshakable joy and freedom in every circumstance. Dispel the myths that joy is frivolous, laughter immature, and happiness unbiblical or undeserved; and open your heart to receive the freedom and joy that God created you to live in.
John 15:11 says, "I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete."
In this audio Bible study, learn what it is to live a life expressed by the joy of knowing how much you are loved by God!
Defiant Joy challenges groups to get honest and real in their discussion time and to explore the truth in what Scripture says about happiness. It also includes a personal "Joy Lab" that makes homework a new daily practice in the art of encountering the abundance God intends for each of us when we know joy.

To most making it through tough times is never financially easy. Those who got through the periods of “Great Depression” did so with grit, determination, a can-do spirit and a lot of courage. Best of all, they came out stronger too! Those who survive those challenges and come out with a solid self-concept, a loving family and grounded faith ridded themselves of spiritual and mental baggage that would have otherwise destroyed them. They had a lean mind to go with a toned body. As we gaze at the hard days in front of us, it is time to look back on some time-tested examples of those who thrived in tough times as well as those whose mental baggage caused them to crash and burn. The lessons in this book involve not as much what each of us can add to insure survival, but what we can shed from our minds to keep out spirits high and our attitudes on an even keel. In trying times or even when things are great a fit, lean, positive mind is the key to being happy.

This little book is meant to be used as a daily devotional guide throughout the Christmas season. It is broken into five sections of five devotions. Each section focuses on one passage of Scripture that is considered verse-by-verse. The book is designed for use as a personal or family devotion tool. Each individual study has some questions to help apply the passage and each section has a text to commit to memory. As a bonus, there are several original Christmas poems in this work from my dear friend, Dr. Tom Nettles that I am sure will be an encouragement to you.
As the Darkness Clears Away is a lyric from the old hymn Let All Mortal Flesh Keep Silence. It is my hope that this guide will be a helpful reminder this Christmas season that Jesus, the light of the world and giver of life, came and defeated death and darkness. It is through the life, death, and resurrection of our incarnate God that we can sing “That the pow'rs of hell may vanish, as the darkness clears away.”
