    That gap between the parent you want to be and the parent you sometimes become is one of the most painful things a human being can carry. The shame of parental rage is unlike almost any other shame, because the witness to your worst moments is the person you love most in the world. 
    The reason willpower has failed you is not because you are weak. It is because parental rage almost never lives in the conscious mind. By the time you are yelling, your prefrontal cortex has gone offline. Your nervous system is operating on autopilot, running a pattern your body learned long before this moment, often before you were even old enough to remember. 
    You cannot use willpower in a state where the willpower part of your brain is offline. You can only change the body's pattern by reaching the layer where it lives. That is the subconscious. That is where this program goes. 
    For the next four hours you will not be lectured. You will not be shamed. You will be guided gently into the deeply relaxed state where your subconscious opens, and 200 carefully crafted affirmations will begin to retrain your nervous system at the level your reactivity actually fires.
