Sinopse

In postwar 1947, records investigator Luca Vardjan arrives in a contested border town near Trieste to reconcile civil and parish records after a devastating office fire. When a scorched casualty ledger surfaces, its coded margin marks reveal a disturbing pattern of deaths without bodies, reassigned children, altered identities, and property transfers shaped by wartime absence. As Luca works alongside former courier Tereza Radan, the investigation becomes less a search for one missing person than a reckoning with how an entire town survived by making certain truths disappear.
