  For each of the species covered in the work, a description is included with useful data related to their habitat, behavior, distribution, and conservation status. In addition, more than 180 high-quality photographs are included, which, together with a detailed description of the anatomical aspects of each species, are intended to facilitate their identification. The data included come from field observations for more than a decade, as well as from the most up-to-date scientific literature.
  
  Also included is a section on the main regions and specific sites in Costa Rica recommended for observing endemic birds. Furthermore, the areas of endemism are characterized, ranging from southeastern Honduras to western Panama. The reader also has a registration list to record the species observed and the code of ethics for bird watchers proposed by the Ornithological Association of Costa Rica, so that the human-bird relationship is as harmonious as possible and allows the permanent enjoyment of this activity, which constitutes the main purpose of the work.

  Space exploration was always an expensive business, and throughout NASA’s history, the agency has had to justify to Congress its need for every dollar it intended to spend. This problem has helped NASA to be more careful and more creative with the money they did receive, and scientists had to justify the equipment they wanted to include on each space probe. They had to justify the size and the power demand, too. If they wanted too much, the entire mission might be scrubbed, and all their work would have been for naught. This made planning and designs leaner and more efficient, as scientists and engineers were more careful with their recommendations. 
  In fact, the Pioneer program was the most diversified sequence of any of NASA’s programs, and though they’re now remembered for being among the first probes in history to reach the Outer Solar System, the elaborate planning changed goals several times over several years before resulting in historic successes. NASA had wanted to do a Grand Tour of the Solar System toward the end of the 1970s to take advantage of the scheduled alignment of planets, which meant the Pioneer missions were meant to be test runs prior to the main events (Voyager 1 and Voyager 2), and a great many things discovered by Pioneer 10 and Pioneer 11 were essential to the successful planning of the Voyager probes. 
  Voyager 1 and 2 have done far more than accomplish their original missions. In fact, they are now exploring interstellar space, far beyond the outer planets in the cold wasteland between the stars. Each spacecraft carries a copy of a golden record which contains an introduction to Earth, should some alien civilization happen to encounter either Voyager 1 or Voyager 2. In the first Star Trek movie, writers imagined just that, creating a story of a Voyager spacecraft being captured and adapted for its own uses.

  When I discovered ChatGPT, I didn't study it, I just used it and built my work around it. Like millions of others, I jumped in without understanding what I was getting into. 
  Then the headlines got darker, AI blackmailing researchers, jobs disappearing overnight. Something that felt helpful suddenly felt... complicated. 
  Our AI isn't another tech explainer. It's a personal story about what happens when you fall for something you don't fully understand and then realise you need to.  
  As a community worker, I've spent my career helping people find their voice in decisions that affect their lives. When AI started reshaping everything, I recognised a familiar pattern: big promises up front, while early consequences start appearing (some jobs already disappearing, data centres straining resources, opportunities concentrating in fewer hands). I've seen this before in other systems, and I know where it leads if communities don't have a voice.  
  This is my personal journey, and I don't just stay in algorithms and AI.  I follow the trail from a rural Australian caravan park to mines in Congo, from city sewers to satellites, from community meetings to corporate boardrooms. It's unpredictable, sometimes funny, always honest, and it connects dots you might not expect.   
  This isn't about doomsday predictions or technical jargon. It's about recognising patterns, asking better questions, and finding your voice in conversations shaping our future, with or without us. 
  This book is your invitation. AI is here whether we like it or not. The question isn't whether to engage, but whether we just get swept along or have say in how it shapes us. This is my story of figuring that out, and an invitation for you to do the same.
