Sinopse

...It was funny but not only that - it was something that suddenly wiped away my smile and made my heart race, like when you’re sprinting to catch the only bus that passes through the village all day. That fear of missing it, the urgency of the chase, was the closest feeling I could compare to the game Nico kept playing with me...

Conan the Barbarian, his mighty muscles smoothly rippling under his bronze and scarred skin, explodes into life in this early story by Howard. His awesome muscles and keen mind all come into play as he climbs, fights and swims his way to victory over the evil Black Seers of Yimsha. And steals the body and heart of the princess in the process of course.
This story is set in the pseudo-historical Hyborian Age and concerns Conan kidnapping a regal princess of Vendhya (pre-historical India) and foiling a nefarious plot of world domination by the Black Seers of Yimsha. Due to its epic scope and atypical Hindustan flavor, the story is considered an undisputed classic of Conan lore and is often cited by Howard scholars as one of his best tales. It is also one of the few Howard stories where the reader is treated a deeper insight on magic and magicians beyond the stereotypical Hyborian depiction as demon conjurer-illusionist-priests.
The People of the Black Circle" is one of the original novellas about Conan the Cimmerian, written by American author Robert E. Howard and first published in Weird Tales magazine in three parts over the September, October and November 1934 issues. Howard earned $250 for the publication of this story.

This series of tales was compiled during the recent pandemic lockdown and they include colourful incidents in the lives of bonesetters, matchmakers, youthful lovers, newcomers from beyond the mountains, a reformed villain’s wedding, celebrated by the whole community for days thereafter, and lots more. This is the second volume and has been written once more in a lyrical language similar to that of past storytellers such as Mark Twain - enthralling and unbelievable at times.Reflections should certainly appeal to those not only with an interest in Ireland’s social history but to fans of the author’s earlier novels."An effortless evocation of an almost-forgotten world...wonderfully personable narration and endlessly charming characterisation." (Addison & Cole)

Arabic erotic literature has a long and rich history, which goes back as far as the ninth century. Far from being the pursuit of prurient pornographers, eroticism and sexuality received considerable attention from scholars.
Written by Nasir al-Din al-Tusi (1201 - 1274), one of the leading scientists of the age, The Sultan's Sex Potions is part of a relatively small group of works devoted to aphrodisiacs, as well as sexual stimulants, sexual practices and positions. Sober and measured in tone, the work was intended to be a manual, which would allow the patient to dispense with the services of a physician. Written at the request of the ruler, its potions, electuaries, syrups and enemas enjoyed a 'royal warrant of appointment' to arouse the lust for coitus and enhance sexual potency.
This bilingual volume includes a critical edition of three manuscripts (Berlin, Cairo and Glasgow) and is accompanied by a translation, as well as an introduction to Arabic erotic literature, a biography of the author and extensive indexes.
