Summary

A few days before Christmas, David Weathers finds himself hopping a plane to his childhood home in Florida and doesn't know why. His parents are gone, he has no siblings, yet something draws him on.
David can almost feel the magic in the air, but then he discovers Jared Acosta, the man who broke his heart twenty years earlier, has moved three doors away. Reluctantly David accepts Jared's invitation to dinner, only to find that twenty years may not be enough for some wounds to heal.
Soon David seeks advice from his mother's best friend Marisol, a vibrant, wise woman who believes in second chances. Can she convince David to take a chance on the man who is working so hard to be near him now? Will he be able to forgive a past that left both him and Jared unlucky in love?

Thomas Mulvaney was just a child when an error in judgment cost him everything. He vowed then that he would do anything to atone for his mistake. And he did. He never strayed from the right path. Until Aiden.
Aiden Mulvaney doesn’t exist. He’s a lie created by the father who disowned him and by Thomas Mulvaney, the only man Aiden had ever begged to love him. But that was years ago, when he’d still believed in fairytales. Before Thomas rejected him.
Thomas has spent years trying to have Aiden in his life while keeping him at arm's length, but Aiden’s done with half-measures. He’s done with Thomas the martyr. He’s just done. So he’s kept his distance. Trouble is, now someone is threatening to expose a secret that affects them all.
No, not that one. A secret so shameful, Thomas won’t even utter it out loud. Can he and Aiden revisit the past and keep the family name intact, or will they both be buried beneath the weight of their memories as their old feelings resurface?

A week of no-strings fun in a winter wonderland setting. No consequences, no expectations, no hurt feelings. Right?

Henry: Finding his boyfriend in a compromising position leaves him with a week off work and no holiday to go on. It's also how he finds himself on holiday alone a few weeks later, at an English holiday village in the countryside, surrounded by Christmas cheer and happy families.

He's expecting a week of relaxing days and early nights, doing his own thing, and taking some time for himself. What he's not expecting is Dom.

Dom: Coming to somewhere so familiar soothes his broken heart after yet another failed attempt at finding someone to settle down with. He's ready. They never are.

Seeing a lost-looking stranger on the first day of his holiday triggers his protective instincts, so he steps in to give him some helpful advice. Who knew that advice would mean they end up spending the day and then the whole week together? But he figures a holiday fling is exactly what he needs to get through this slump: no expectations, no misunderstandings, no heartbreak.

    Or that was the plan.

Caleb: Nobody ever looks past the mask I wear. Not until I meet Jayden Harris, the adorably bossy scholarship student with a razor-sharp focus and an unbreakable determination to be the best of us all.

He says he doesn't have time for dating. He says I'm just a player. If I could prove to him that I'm worth falling in love with, he might change his mind. But asking him to be my fake boyfriend for a massive family gathering probably wasn't my greatest idea.

We're a lost cause, but I just can't let him go.

Jayden: It was just a one-time thing. And then a two-time thing. And a three-time thing. Before I know it, I'm in his fancy car, heading to the Wine Country for an extended weekend. My mission? Be the loving boyfriend you bring home to meet the parents.

I'm risking my scholarship and my future at the elite Highgate Academy for a charming stranger in need of a boyfriend. Why? I wish I could tell you. But there's more to him than I imagined.

I'm doing my best to convince everyone that we're a couple. But maybe I'd be wise to remind myself that we are not.

From a rundown estate in Eastleigh, a small town in Darlington and an affluent Cotswold home, each character grapples with the life fate has handed them. Until by chance they all come together in adulthood, the repercussions are explosive. Spanning 30 years the scope of this novel is ambitious and the writing beautifully honed. Character and sense of place are masterfully achieved.
