Summary

Before one can correctly understand the work of the Holy Spirit, they must first of all know the Spirit Himself. A frequent source of error and fanaticism about the work of the Holy Spirit is the attempt to study and understand His work without primarily coming to know Him as a Person. It is of the highest importance from the standpoint of worship that we decide whether the Holy Spirit is a Divine Person, worthy to receive our adoration, our faith, our love, and our entire surrender to Himself, or whether it is simply an influence emanating from God or a power or an illumination that God imparts to us. If the Holy Spirit is a person, and a Divine Person, and we do not know Him as such, then we are robbing a Divine Being of the worship and the faith and the love and the surrender to Himself which are His due. It is not enough to believe the doctrine—one must know the Holy Spirit Himself. The whole purpose of this book is to introduce you to the Holy Spirit.

This book offers a measured Christian response to the diverse gender identities that are being embraced by an increasing number of adolescents. Mark Yarhouse and Julia Sadusky offer an honest, scientifically informed, compassionate, and nuanced treatment for all listeners who care about or work with gender-diverse youth: pastors, church leaders, parents, family members, youth workers, and counselors.

Yarhouse and Sadusky help listeners distinguish between current mental health concerns, such as gender dysphoria, and the emerging gender identities that some young people turn to for a sense of identity and community. Based on the authors' significant clinical and ministry experience, this book casts a vision for practically engaging and ministering to teens navigating diverse gender-identity concerns. It also equips listeners to critically engage gender theory based on a Christian view of sex and gender.

An Introduction to the Theology and Themes of Philippians“To live is Christ, and to die is gain” (Philippians 1:21). This bold and countercultural statement captures the central message of Philippians. In this New Testament letter, Paul offers practical advice for godly living and encourages believers to stay connected to the gospel amid hardship. Because the church shares in the sufferings of Christ, believers can experience joy even in suffering as they wait for the Lord to make all things new. In this volume of the New Testament Theology series, author Chris Bruno explores the theology and themes of Philippians and highlights how this letter fits into broader biblical theology. Through clear and engaging examinations, Bruno expounds on predominant themes―the church’s union with Christ, the church as ambassadors of the kingdom, the gospel proclaimed and opposed, the hope of life with Christ, and suffering with joy. For Those Interested in Biblical Theology: Ideal for college and seminary students, pastors, and professors Helpful Bible Study Resource: A great companion to commentaries on Philippians Part of the New Testament Theology Series: Other volumes include Ministry in the New Realm; United to Christ, Walking in the Spirit; and more

Reformation is the continual reforming of the mission of the church to enhance God’s command to reach out to others in a way that acknowledges the unique times and locations of daily life. This engaging book blends the integrity of respected theoreticians with the witty and practical insights of a pastor. It calls for a movement of missionaries to seek the lost across the street as well as across the globe. This basic primer on the interface between gospel and culture highlights the contrast between presentation evangelism and participation evangelism. It helps Christians navigate between the twin pitfalls of syncretism (being so culturally irrelevant that you lose your message) and sectarianism (being so culturally irrelevant that you lose your mission). Included are interviews with those who have crossed cultural barriers, such as a television producer, exotic dancer, tattoo studio owner, and band manager. The appendix represents eight portals into the future: population, family, health/medicine, creating, learning, sexuality, and religion.Mark Driscoll was recently featured on the ABC special The Changing of Worship.

What are we human beings? What might our common future be? Who or what is God?

These are some of the most fundamental questions asked by Christians and many others, and they need asking anew in each generation. Neil Richardson’s latest book offers a “new look” Christian faith, drawing from the Bible and from Christian tradition, but showing how much we have missed in the Bible, and how much some traditional beliefs have been misunderstood.

The person of Jesus is key to all three questions explored here. As the “ultimate human being” and, paradoxically, the image of a God, Jesus is an iconic figure for our common human future.

Neil Richardson also explores some of the practical outcomes this has for the life of the Church and the way Christians live in the world. Social justice and a greater sharing of the earth also follow, and the neglected Christian themes of enjoying both God and the world, and life before and after death.

The big questions in life: Who am I? What is my purpose? Where do I find the answers? When will I die? Why am I here? How do I know what's true? The who, what, where, when, why, and how of your life, of my life, of anyone's life.
Whenever I pick up medications at the pharmacy, I'm asked, "Do you have any questions?" If it's someone new, I give the response, "Only existential ones, and we have to answer those for ourselves."
A philosopher, a physician, a recovering addict, a poet, a dreamer, a believer. Here are my poems. Read them, and you may find answers to life's big questions, as I did.
    About the Author:
Born Robert William Giebink, August 19, 1955, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Named after my father, Robert - Bob - an orthopedic surgeon, and William Hruza - Bill - a general surgeon. They had high hopes and expectations for me. They encouraged me to go into medicine but never pushed me. I had other interests like literature, earth science, sailing, skiing, fishing, going to rock concerts, and experiencing what life had to offer. I had to learn the hard way.

Embark on a journey to discover your assignment in the Kingdom of God. Find out how God uses your head, heart, and hands for His kingdom's purposes no matter your career or field of work. Using five American industrialists-Andrew Carnegie, Henry Ford, J.P. Morgan, John D. Rockefeller, Sr., and Cornelius Vanderbilt-as examples of men committed to business ventures (and, perhaps surprisingly, God's kingdom) readers will be encouraged to pursue God's Kingdom Assignment for their own lives. In addition to nine chapters focused on utilizing time, talent, treasure, and testimony for God's kingdom, the book includes biographical sketches of the Industrialists and recommended reading to learn more about them. More than anything, it's a daring look into what God just might to with anyone whose life and possessions are wholly committed to him.
