Sinopsis

The Medieval times were cruel and unmerciful, a savagely thriving landscape in a truly rich saga full of a dramatic turn of events that see this historic novel involve various and multiple characters, from servants, the clergy, soldiers, maids, nannies and farmers in the struggle of power over the opposition of the Ghibelline family of Montefeltro of Urbino (known today as Pietrarubbia), and the Guelph family of Malatesta of Rimini in San Leo.During the 13th century, Montefeltro and Romagna were the stage of numerous battles between the Guelphs and the Ghibellines. Set at the helm of the two factions in conflict based on self serving interests at that time for prestige and personal gain, the noble lineages of the Montefeltro and Malatesti were contended rivals. In 1285, Count Guido of Montefeltro, leader of the Ghibelline party, Lord of Urbino and Captain of the Forlì and Faenza populations, was forced to surrender to the Guelph army, and after turning his two children in as hostages to Pope Honorius IV, was incarcerated in Chioggia. During the summer of 1289, Count Corrado of Pietrarubbia, who occupied Urbino and belonged to the primogeniture of the Montefeltro family, drove the Guelphs who were in alliance with the Malatesti family out of the city and brought back the exiled Ghibellines. This historically faithful and compelling story recounts many documented events, such as the Cesena ambush where Corrado of Pietrarubbia's men carried out the attack against the life of Malatesta da Verucchio, future Lord of Rimini, as well as the treaty of alliance of Montescudo who Taddeo of Pietrarubbia later pledged with his bitter enemy. It is in this context that Pio Bianchini integrates his story around the people of Petra Rubea - the Latin name for Pietrarubbia. The ancient and crumbling castle of Mount St. Lorenzo is held up by Bonzio, the trusted vassal of the Corrado and Taddeo brothers. Alvisio and Fraudolente, dubious characters paid by Count Corrado, who ravaged during times of peace and war, committing atrocious brutalities which provoked radical change to the precarious and unstable balance between the diverse political factions…PUBLISHER: TEKTIME

Bishop Pendle is the Church of England bishop in a small fictitious English cathedral town. Several years into his work, he receives a visit from a disreputable-looking visitor. The bishop is much upset. What transpired between them that has so upset the good churchman? And then there is the murder. Fergus Hume was one of the most prolific and most popular of 19th century novelists. "Mr. Hume won a reputation second to none for plot of the stirring, ingenious, misleading, and finally surprising kind, and for working out his plot in vigorous and picturesque English. In "The Bishop's Secret," while there is no falling off in plot and style, there is a welcome and marvelous broadening out as to the cast of characters, representing an unusually wide range of typical men and women. These are not laboriously described by the author, but are made to reveal themselves in action and speech in a way that has, for the reader, all the charm of personal intercourse with living people...."(Book Preface and david wales)

The Detective has been a mainstay of fiction writing ever since we can remember.
Their deductive powers, their intuition and fleet-footed grasp of every detail can often turn the unlikeliest situation, or bunch of red herrings, into a breakthrough to capture even the most ingenious and dastardly of criminals.
In this series our classic authors explore not only various themes, such as Occult Detectives, Female Detectives, Curious Crimes and a whole host more, but also bring a range and depth to the whole culture of criminality as we send in the Long Arm of the Law to bring justice on behalf of the society it serves.
In this volume we explore those crimes which have been either perpetuated by family members against others or, more darkly, crimes against each other.

“To live forever... and long for death.”
What begins as a desperate act of heartbreak turns into an eternal sentence in this haunting short tale by Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley, the famed author of Frankenstein. When young Winzy drinks a mysterious elixir meant to cure the torment of love, he unwittingly trades fleeting pain for everlasting regret.
Blessed—or cursed—with youth that never fades, Winzy watches the world age around him. Love, joy, grief, and time twist into a tragic knot of memories as centuries slip by and those he cherishes wither and pass.
The Mortal Immortal is a chilling meditation on desire, mortality, and the heavy burden of immortality. In a world where everything changes but him, Winzy’s greatest question remains unanswered: Is he truly immortal… or merely doomed to wait for death forever?
Narrated with intimate melancholy by Christopher Mireider, this gothic classic remains as resonant today as when it was first penned.
