  The 1987 State of the Union Address delivered January 27, 1987, in the 200th anniversary year of the U.S. Constitution, notes dramatic improvements in the inflation rate, interest rates, housing starts, and the unemployment rate. Reagan regrets the Iran-Contra controversy and promises to get to the bottom of it and take whatever action is called for. 
  Though the Soviets transferred $75 billion in weapons to client-states like Syria, Vietnam, Cuba, Libya, Angola, Ethiopia, Afghanistan, and Nicaragua, the Congress cut administration requests for security assistance and defense. There “is no surer way to lose freedom than to lose our resolve.” As President Truman said: “International communism seeks to crush and undermine and destroy the independence of the Americas. We cannot let that happen here.” 
  Our Strategic Defense Initiative, SDI, “is the most positive and promising defense program we have undertaken. It's the path, for both sides, to a safer future -- a system that defends human life instead of threatening it.” 
  We support free trade and “expanding peaceful commerce across the world.” We remain opposed as ever to protectionism…” 
  The “federal deficit is outrageous.” We need “a constitutional amendment that mandates a balanced budget”. We need “a line-item veto so we can carve out the boondoggles and pork…” “We have deficits because big government spends too much.” 
  The U.S. Constitution “grew out of the most fundamental inspiration of our existence: that we are here to serve Him by living free -- that living free releases in us the noblest of impulses and the best of our abilities; that we would use these gifts for good and generous purposes and would secure them not just for ourselves and for our children but for all mankind.”

  2: From about 1858 to 1947, the British ruled over India. The raj carried out orders and came up with them. There was public mistrust and dissatisfaction about their regime, which led to protests, riots, and controversial events. India was a big part of the British Empire for a long time, until the country gained its independence. Other issues happened with the Bangladeshi and the Pakistani. 
  Let’s explore how the rule of the British raj evolved, how their power became stronger and weaker, and what the impact of the world wars was, the nationalist groups in India, and significant figures like Mahatma Gandhi.

  The history of printing was for ancient Asia an advancement in culture and communication, but for Europe in the 15th century, it was much more, plunging the continent into a new paradigm and aligning it for the modern world. Its importance is often overlooked, but the timeliness of the printing machine was equivalent to the invention of alphabets in antiquity and ranks up there with the digital revolution and the introduction of the internet. Put simply, it made the Renaissance possible and led to the modernization of Europe. 
  Long before the emergence of the modern world, paper was unknown in the West, and all documents were transcribed by hand onto clay, papyrus, and parchment. More importantly, few were allowed to express themselves through written media. Writing was for the most part theological in nature, reserved for scribes mostly living and working in monasteries. Books in the Middle Ages were owned almost exclusively by monasteries and educational institutions, and with reading material being such a rarity, content remained narrow and difficult to access. 
  	Based on earlier Asian principles, Johannes Gutenberg’s movable type printing press propelled an industry that led to the education of the West and ultimately removed the tight grip of the Vatican from daily European life. Within less than a century of Gutenberg’s device appearing on the scene, printing presses had churned out tens of millions of copies of books of all types, and as more people became educated, lower classes became wealthier while revolutionary principles spread across borders like wildfire. In addition to ushering in the Renaissance, the printing press also made the Reformation possible, and just as gunpowder was revolutionizing medieval warfare, the printing press led to battles over ideas and the rise of nationalism. For better and worse, after Gutenberg’s printing press became available, the world would never be the same.
