Summary

Peter Kreeft, esteemed philosophy professor and author of over eighty books, has taught college philosophy for sixty years. Throughout those decades, he yearned for a beginner's philosophy text that was clear, accessible, enjoyable, and exciting (perhaps even funny). Finding none that met those criteria, he eventually decided to write it himself. In this four-volume series, Kreeft delivers, with his characteristic wit and clarity, an introduction to philosophy via the hundred greatest philosophers of all time. Socrates’ Children examines the big ideas of four major eras―ancient, medieval, modern, and contemporary―and immerses the reader in the “great conversation,” the ongoing dialogue among the great thinkers of history, including the most influential philosopher of all: Socrates, the father of Western philosophy.  Volume IV: Contemporary Philosophers surveys the great philosophers of the last two hundred years and observes the splintering of philosophy into a wide array of philosophical enterprises. Some, unhinged from the past, rebel against the very endeavor of philosophy, but others, seeking to revitalize ancient conversations, return to and renew the deepest questions of meaning, happiness, and the human person.

HOLY BIBLE - EXODUS: NEW LIVING TRANSLATION (NLT) The Holy Bible, New Living Translation, is an authoritative Bible translation, rendered faithfully into today’s English from the ancient texts by 90 leading Bible scholars. The NLT’s living language breathes life into even the most difficult-to-understand Bible passages—but even more powerful are stories of how people’s lives are changing as the words speak directly to their hearts. The New Living Translation is perfect for every age and stage of life, allowing every member of the family to read the same text.   What method did the translators use in making the NLT? The translators of the New Living Translation set out to render the message of the original texts of Scripture into clear, contemporary English. As they did so, they translated as simply and literally as possible when that approach yielded an accurate, clear, and natural English text. Many words and phrases were rendered literally and consistently into English, preserving essential literary and rhetorical devices, ancient metaphors, and word choices that give structure to the text and provide echoes of meaning from one passage to the next. On the other hand, the translators rendered the message more dynamically when the literal rendering was hard to understand, was misleading, or yielded archaic or foreign wording. They clarified difficult metaphors and terms to aid in the reader’s understanding. The translators first struggled with the meaning of the words and phrases in the ancient context; then they rendered the message into clear, natural English. Their goal was to be both faithful to the ancient texts and eminently readable. The result is a translation that is both exegetically accurate and idiomatically powerful. More than 90 Bible scholars, along with a group of accomplished English stylists, worked closely together toward that goal. In the end, the NLT is the result of precise scholarship conveyed in living, contemporary language.

Sikh Nasalkushi Da Khura Khoj: Authored by Gurjant Singh Ball and Sukhjeet Singh Sadarkot
Sikh Genocide da Khura Khoj is a powerful and eye-opening book that uncovers the lesser-known truth about the 1984 anti-Sikh violence. While most people are aware of what happened in Delhi, Kanpur, Bokaro, and Hondh Chillar, this book reveals that the attacks on Sikhs were not limited to just these places. Written by Gurjant Singh Ball, this important book investigates how Sikhs were also targeted in other parts of India with the same cruelty and planning. It focuses on six states — Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu — and shares shocking stories backed by eyewitnesses and real evidence. Sikh Genocide da Khura Khoj is one of the first books to explore these forgotten chapters. It gives a voice to the victims and brings hidden facts to light. A must-read for anyone seeking to understand the full scale of the Sikh genocide beyond what is commonly known. You can order it from Sikh Siyasat and get it delivered anywhere in the world.

Eliza King already has a broken heart, and thanks to a rickety ladder, she now has a broken leg too. She isn't dealing with either very well. Ever since a brief romance ended when the boy who'd been courting her tried a little too hard to take things further, Eliza has sought refuge in reading books and tending to her beloved horses. Being incapacitated makes the latter impossible. But her Englisch doctor knows an Amish man looking for just such work . . .

Eliza is shocked to discover that the man is Levi Lapp, the very boy who humiliated her, now all grown up. Levi is embarrassed over his clumsy behavior as a teen. He wants to earn Eliza's forgiveness, even if he can't win back her heart . . . And once Eliza reluctantly agrees to hire him, she finds herself enjoying the little gifts and encouraging notes Levi leaves for her. Encouraged by her older sister, she begins to fashion a quilt out of each item. Soon Eliza can see Levi's caring spirit plainly before her—and the possibility that he might just be the best thing for her horses—and for her.
