Synopsis

Bagpuss, dear Bagpuss, old fat furry cat-puss, wake up, wake up and look at this thing that I bring...Bagpuss, created by Oliver Postgate and Peter Firmin, is no ordinary cat. Bagpuss, the sleepy old cloth cat, lives in a shop owned by Emily, where lost and broken things are brought to be "mended". When Emily brings an object to Bagpuss, he and his friends wake up, ready to discover its secrets. Professor Yaffle shares his wisdom, Madeleine sings, Gabriel plays his banjo, and the mice add their fun ideas. Together, they make the shop a place where forgotten things come to life in the most magical way.Emily brings a strange, long object to the shop that looks like an old man's beard. Bagpuss and his friends are eager to explore its mystery. Professor Yaffle tries to figure out what it could be, while Madeleine and Gabriel sing about an old man with a magical beard that can change the world. The mice, of course, add their own creative ideas, turning the story into something even more magical. This episode is full of wonder and imagination, showing how even the simplest things can hold the most extraordinary stories.
