Summary

This volume explores the history of the Apache Wars of the late 19th century Southwest through diaries, army reports, and other primary sources. Stretching from the Colorado River to the mountains east of the Rio Grande, and from northern Arizona into Sonora, Mexico, is the sprawling region once known as Apacheria. By the time the first Americans ventured into the region, the indigenous peoples known as the Apache had already been clashing with Spanish and Mexican interlopers for some time.   Eyewitnesses to the Indian Wars, 1865–1890: The Struggle for Apacheria presents a selection of outstanding original accounts pertaining to the epic struggle between American and the Apache for those coveted lands. It is the first in a five-volume series telling the saga of the military struggle for the American West in the words of the soldiers, noncombatants, and Native Americans who shaped it

Contemporary scientifically-informed culture investigates the phenomenal world revealed to our mind, senses and technical instruments. Non-duality looks within to the nature of the experiencing subject. Both spring from the need to know, grow and fulfil the supreme potential of human beings, who find the universe apparently manifesting consciousness as themselves. Non-duality offers a path of enquiry into the metaphysical questions underlying physics, and scientific discoveries shed light on what is universal and essential in the non-dual teachings to be found at the heart of all the great wisdom traditions.

The early 1930s were a tumultuous period for German politics, even in comparison to the ongoing transition to the modern era that caused various forms of chaos throughout the rest of the world. In the United States, reliance on the outdated gold standard and an absurdly parsimonious monetary policy helped bring about the Great Depression. Meanwhile, the Empire of Japan began its ultimately fatal adventurism with the invasion of Manchuria, alienating the rest of the world with the atrocities it committed. Around the same time, Gandhi began his drive for the peaceful independence of India through nonviolent protests against the British.
It was in Germany, however, that the strongest seeds of future tragedy were sown. The struggling Weimar Republic had become a breeding ground for extremist politics, including two opposed and powerful authoritarian entities: the right-wing National Socialists and the left-wing KPD Communist Party. As the 1930s dawned, these two totalitarian groups held one another in a temporary stalemate, enabling the fragile ghost of democracy to continue a largely illusory survival for a few more years.
That stalemate was broken in dramatic fashion on a bitterly cold night in late February 1933, and it was the Nazis who emerged decisively as the victors. A single act of arson against the famous Reichstag building proved to be the catalyst that propelled Adolf Hitler to victory in the elections of March 1933, which set the German nation irrevocably on the path towards World War II. That war would plunge much of the planet into an existential battle that ultimately cost an estimated 60 million lives.

You've read White Fragility and How to Be an Antiracist, but what comes next? The answer lies in this clear, actionable guide providing an invaluable four-week program for becoming an ally who makes a real difference in the racial justice fight.

Black women have always been the driving force behind real change in this country—especially when it comes to racial justice work. But they shouldn't have to do it alone. If you're ready to stop standing on the sidelines and become anti-racist instead of passively "not racist," then this book is what you need. You'll discover: how to have difficult conversations about white supremacy, racism, and white privilege; how to listen to criticism without defensiveness; why it's harmful to ignore race or claim to be colorblind; and how to expand your racial justice circle by joining groups led by Black women and cultivating a group of like-minded allies.

Racism can only be defeated if white people educate themselves and actively engage in antiracism work, especially in their inner circles. With this book, you'll learn how to change from someone who defends and protects racism to someone who fights against it. And you'll become an example to others that true allies are made, not born.
