Live with Rupert during his abduction, learn about his dysfunctional parents, his fears, his dreams for the future and his love for Carla.

Meanwhile, at home, Carla learns that Rupert is missing.

Carla starts a frantic search to find Rupert and enlists the help of Rupert's employer, George, who is just about to retire.

As Carla searches for Rupert we find out about her Fathers sudden death, her Mothers depression and Carla's own wayward past.

Rupert, Carla & the General is a thrilling suspense romance written with a touch of wit and humour that will keep you turning page after page.

Paul White has the rare ability to bring characters to life, making them real people with feelings, worries and inner doubts, just like you and I.

Paul White has masterly crafted Rupert, Carla & the General into a work that leads the reader astray, down the dark alleyways of the past, before bringing them back into the glaring light of the present.

Paul manages to do all this while weaving a mixture of laugh-out-loud humour and offbeat wit into the story.

"Lonely Together" is an anthology of poems crafted throughout the year 2022-2023, offering a deeply personal insight into life's trials and tribulations, even in moments of apparent prosperity. These poems serve as a concise alternative to traditional journaling, allowing me to encapsulate my thoughts and experiences with a clear beginning and end.
This audiobook is designed to be an intimate conversation, a reading where I delve into each poem, unraveling the emotions and ideas behind them. It's an opportunity for you to not only listen but also to get to know me on a deeper level as I navigate the profound themes within these verses. My intention is that you'll find resonance with these poems beyond mere recitation.
The title, "Lonely Together," carries multiple layers of meaning. It initially sprang from a text I sent, suggesting that we should "be lonely together." This phrase lingered in my thoughts, embodying the idea that no one should bear loneliness in solitude, yet also acknowledging that even within a circle of loved ones, individual loneliness can persist.
I sincerely hope you find enjoyment in this journey.

The 115th volume of the Yale Series of Younger Poets, What Noise Against the Cane is a lyric quest for belonging and freedom, weaving political resistance, Caribbean folklore, immigration, and the realities of Black life in America. Desiree C. Bailey begins by reworking the epic in an oceanic narrative of bondage and liberation in the midst of the Haitian Revolution. The poems move into the contemporary Black diaspora, probing the mythologies of home, belief, nation, and womanhood. Series judge Carl Phillips observes that Bailey’s “poems argue for hope and faith equally… These are powerful poems, indeed, and they make a persuasive argument for the transformative powers of steady defiance.”

WINNER OF THE 2024 PULITZER PRIZE IN POETRYFinalist for the 2023 National Book Award for PoetryWith Tripas, Brandon Som follows up his award-winning debut with a book of poems built out of a multicultural, multigenerational childhood home, in which he celebrates his Chicana grandmother, who worked nights on the assembly line at Motorola, and his Chinese American father and grandparents, who ran the family corner store. Enacting a cómo se dice poetics, a dialogic poem-making that inventively listens to heritage languages and transcribes family memory, Som participates in a practice of mem(oir), placing each poem's ear toward a confluence of history, labor, and languages, while also enacting a kind of "telephone" between cultures. Invested in the circuitry and circuitous routes of migration and labor, Som's lyricism weaves together the narratives of his transnational communities, bringing to light what is overshadowed in the reckless transit of global capitalism and imagining a world otherwise―one attuned to the echo in the hecho, the oracle in the órale.

The Snow Globe is Jenny Pagdin's powerful, sensitive and stark debut collection. Written from first-hand experience, under the glass dome of postpartum psychosis, her poetry depicts a fearsome, glittering inner storm of severe mental illness during new motherhood, moving through illness, through snow flurry and sunshine, to a place of recovery and love.
Threaded through this book are illuminating and courageous poems that settle and unsettle in equal measure. They cluster moth-like around spiritual and mythical figures, unravelling and remaking themselves with needlework and yarn, threaded along shorelines and under starry night skies. Jenny Pagdin's skilful and attentive use of a variety of forms reflects multiple and jarring realities – with poems dancing their own chaotic, fragmented and strange glinting beauty towards resolution.
