Summary

I'VE ALWAYS been captivated by the narrative of Cain and Abel, Adam and Eve's first two sons.

It's possible they were twins. Eve, according to the Bible, conceived twice and delivered twice.

Now Adam recognized Eve as his wife, and she conceived and bore Cain, declaring, "I have obtained a man from the Lord." Then she carried his brother Abel one more (Gen. 4:1-2).

They may have had similar appearances, but they pursued two different careers.

Cain was a tiller of the ground, while Abel was a sheep keeper (Gen. 4:2).

It was only natural that the children were taught the notion of giving presents to the Lord after what their parents had gone through.

Julia Broeder is only six months shy of graduating from the Women's Medical College of Pennsylvania when one small decision spirals out of control and results in her expulsion. Hoping to travel the world as a missionary doctor, her only choice is to return back home . . . or throw herself upon the mercy of Ashton Carlyle.

Formal and straight-laced, Ashton is not pleased to see an expelled Julia arrive at his Manhattan office. His position as an attorney for the Vandermark family's world-famous shipping empire entails taking care of the Broeders, longtime employees of the Vandermarks. But Ashton has no intention of using his employer's resources in defense of Julia's impulsive and reckless actions.

What Ashton does not expect are a scathing reprimand from none other than the Vandermark family patriarch and the bewildering resistance from Julia herself when he's forced to change his tune. At an impasse, Ashton and Julia are unprepared for the revelations that arise or the adventure that awaits them.

In this novella, award-winning novelist Elizabeth Camden introduces readers to the world of the grand Hudson River Valley estate Dierenpark and the enigmatic Vandermark family. Includes an extended preview of Until the Dawn, Camden's full-length Dierenpark novel.

Jonathan Edwards is widely hailed as the greatest theologian in American history. In Edwards on the Christian Life, Dane Ortlund invites us to explore the great eighteenth-century pastor’s central passion: God’s resplendent beauty. Whether the topic was the nature of love, the preeminence of Scripture, or the glory of the natural world, the concept of beauty stood at the heart of Edwards’s theology and permeated his portrait of the Christian life. Clear and engaging, this accessible volume will inspire you to embrace Edwards’s magnificent vision of what it means to be a Christian: enjoying and reflecting of the beauty of God in all things.Martin Luther’s historical significance can hardly be overstated. Known as the father of the Protestant Reformation, no single figure has had a greater impact on Western Christianity except perhaps Augustine. In Luther on the Christian Life, historian Carl Trueman introduces readers to the lively Reformer, taking them on a tour of his historical context, theological system, and approach to the Christian life. Whether exploring Luther’s theology of protest, ever-present sense of humor, or misunderstood view of sanctification, this addition to Crossway’s Theologians on the Christian Life series highlights the ways in which Luther’s eventful life shaped his understanding of what it means to be a Christian. Ultimately, this book will help modern readers go deeper in their spiritual walk by learning from one of the great teachers of the faith.John Newton is best known as the slave trader turned hymn writer who penned the most popular English hymn in history: “Amazing Grace.” However, many Christians are less familiar with the decades he spent in relative obscurity, laboring as a “spiritual doctor” while pastoring small parishes in England. In the latest addition to Crossway’s growing Theologians on the Christian Life series, Tony Reinke introduces modern readers to Newton’s pastoral wisdom by leading them through the many sermons, hymns, and―most importantly―letters that he wrote over the course of his life. Considered by many to be one of the greatest letter writers of all time, Newton has valuable insights to offer modern Christians, especially when it comes to fusing together sound doctrine, lived experience, and godly practice.Widely recognized as a pillar of 20th-century evangelicalism, J. I. Packer has had a profound impact on millions of Christians living today. Now in his late eighties, Packer still exerts an enormous influence on pastors and laypeople around the world through his many books, articles, and recorded lectures―works that overflow with spiritual wisdom related to the Christian life. In the latest addition to Crossway’s growing Theologians on the Christian Life series, well-known pastor Sam Storms examines Packer’s legacy when it comes to the Christian and sanctification. Whether exploring Packer’s insights into prayer, Bible study, the sovereignty of God, or the Christian’s fight against sin, this accessible book offers readers the chance to learn from the best of Packer’s thinking on what true godliness really entails. The importance of Dutch theologian Herman Bavinck to Reformed theology is difficult to overstate. Bavinck's comprehensive four volume systematic theology, Reformed Dogmatics, is a modern classic that has influenced countless pastors and theologians over the past 100 years. In Bavinck on the Christian Life, scholar John Bolt brings the great Dutch theologian’s life and work to bear on following Jesus in the 21st century. By practically applying Bavinck's systematic works to the Christian life and looking at the life of the man himself, this book shows the direct connection between robust theology, practical holiness, and personal joy.John Owen is widely hailed as one of the greatest theologians of all time. His many works―especially those encouraging Christians in their struggle against sin―continue to speak powerfully to rea

What will you find when you allow yourself to go deeper?
You’re not satisfied with the dry ground of religious intellectualism. You’re not satisfied with just dipping your toes into a shallow spirituality. You want to know the heart of God more intimately. You want to encounter God in the deep places.
In Deeper Places, pastor and musician Matthew Jacoby shares a rich portrait of authentic spirituality that will help you dive deep beneath the surface to experience the kind of profound joy that the psalmists sang about. For over fifteen years, Jacoby has been studying the Psalms and setting them to music as they were intended. Now he gives you an in-depth look at the Psalms as a pathway to an intimate and satisfying relationship with God.
“Few have understood the Psalms as well as Matthew Jacoby. He has sung them, taught them, and lived them for as long as he can remember. As such, he is a worthy guide for those seeking the more authentic, biblical, and earthy faith found in them.”- Alan Hirsch, author, The Faith of Leap, Untamed, and Right Here, Right Now.
“Deeper Places is about knowing God, not knowing about God. Jacoby’s insights made me want to do something I’d not done for years: to make reading the Psalms a daily part of my life with God.”- Gary W. Moon, director of the Dallas Willard Center at Westmont College; author, Apprenticeship with Jesus.
“This collection of thoughtful reflections on the Psalms is beautifully written and heartfelt. This is a book to be savored.”- Ruth Haley Barton, founder, Transforming Center; author, Invitation to Solitude and Silence.
“Matthew Jacoby is a musician, a theologian, and a pastor-a unique blending of calling and gifting that makes him ideally equipped to explore the ancient Hebrew songbook.”- Stuart Briscoe, author, broadcaster, international speaker.

Who is Israel? The Church, Not the State
A bold, biblical, and historic manifesto that reclaims the Church's true identity.
For two thousand years, the Christian Church has confessed one unbreakable truth: the True Israel is the universal body of believers in Jesus Christ—Jew and Gentile united by faith, not ethnicity or geography. From the prophets to Paul, from Augustine to Calvin, the covenant people of God have always been defined by the promise fulfilled in the Messiah.
Yet in the 19th century, a novel theology emerged that shattered this consensus. Dispensationalism—pioneered by John Nelson Darby and popularized by the Scofield Bible—split God's people in two: a future for national Israel and a mere parenthesis for the Church. This seismic shift didn't just rewrite eschatology; it reshaped evangelical identity, politics, and mission. Today, Christian Zionism treats a modern secular state as the centerpiece of God's plan, funneling billions in U.S. aid while sidelining justice, Palestinian Christians, and the Church's global calling.
With scholarly depth, Who is Israel? is more than a book—it's a battle cry. It's time to reject theological dualism, political idolatry, and end-times escapism. It's time to live as the covenant people God always intended.
