Beschreibung

In the heart of the American Dream, where skyscrapers pierce the sky and city lights illuminate the night, there lies a hidden world of despair and struggle. "The Broken Dreams" takes you on a poignant journey into the lives of Wendy and Amanda, two women whose lives took an unexpected turn, leading them to the unforgiving abyss of homelessness.

Before reaching the age of thirty, Wendy and Amanda found themselves stripped of their dreams of lasting love, security, and a place to call home. Through their eyes, we witness the harsh realities of life on the streets, the constant battle for survival, and the dehumanizing effects of poverty.

Their stories are a stark reminder that homelessness can happen to anyone, regardless of age, race, or background. They challenge us to question our assumptions about poverty and homelessness, and to recognize the humanity of those who are less fortunate.

But Wendy and Amanda's stories are not just tales of despair. They are also stories of resilience and strength, of the indomitable human spirit that refuses to be broken. Despite the hardships they face, they cling to the belief that they can reclaim their lives, that they can find a way out of the darkness.

"The Broken Dreams" is a powerful indictment of the systemic failures that allow homelessness to persist. It is a call to action, a plea for compassion and understanding. It demands that we confront the harsh truths about our society and work towards creating a future where everyone has a safe and stable place to live.

This book is a must-read for anyone who cares about social justice, poverty, and the human condition. It is a story that will stay with you long after you finish reading it, and it will challenge you to see the world in a new light.

Teachers, this book is a guide for taking care of education's most valuable resource: you. Author Jay Schroder, founder of the popular Teach from Your Best Self Institute, demonstrates why the version of ourselves that we bring to teaching matters and describes how we can rejuvenate ourselves while maximizing student learning. Part I explains why the self that a teacher brings to the classroom is important. Part II explores skills that will help us sustain a best-self state in all manner of situations. Part III delves into those moments when we're provoked beyond our limits and our "hurtspots" come sharply into view. It offers ways to avert a reactive state or recover from it. Lastly, Part IV provides simple approaches for building a more durable, best self for the long term—a best self with deepened capacity to respond rather than react in the pressurized conditions of teaching. With fresh ideas presented throughout, you'll learn how to prioritize your own well-being so you can continue to make a difference for your students.

A group of Brahmins from Telangana had come to Pune and indulged in several incidents of irregular behaviour that disturbed the peace. They disobeyed the regulations and indulged in theft and rioting. On 29 August that year, thirty-five Telanga Brahmins were apprehended by a police officer on duty and shut up in a room in the chowky at Bhavani peth. Ghashiram personally did not visit the prison cell, which was in the form of a tunnel with poor ventilation. The prisoners remained in the cell for an entire day and a night and on the third morning, Manaji Phakde (a cousin of Mahadji Scindia) was passing that way, when he heard noises. He personally went to the cell
and broke open the locks to find that twenty-one of the Telanga Brahmins had died. He promptly informed Nana and the Peshwa of the tragedy.
