This is a compilation of 5 different titles, which are about the following topics:
1: Undoubtedly, Napoleon, the French revolutionist and emperor has left his mark on European history. His vast empire stretched all over the continent, his unique image and posture have been emulated by many, and his infamous defeat in Russia was a precursor of the defeat Hitler experienced for similar reasons.
2: Hannibal Barca, one of Carthage’s most influential generals, lived a couple hundred years before Christ, and has led many Roman troops to victory to conquer the surrounding nations. Famous were his battles with elephants he employed during tactical moves of cavalry and infantry armies alike.
3: The Greek general and king, Alexander the Great, is a name you might have heard before. Although his historical journey varies greatly from the stories and rumors about him, he did accomplish many victories in Asia and Europe in his conquest to rule the world. In this guide, we will go over his appearance, his character, his many battles, his clever military strategies, and the regions he conquered.
4: William the First, who was also called William the Conqueror and in some cases William the Bastard, was the first Norman emperor of England, ruling from 1066 till his death in 1087. Around this time, many wars and battles were waged over the kingdom and distribution of territories in Europe. France, the Anglo-Saxons, and Scandinavian troops were engaged in raids, struggles, and battles to claim their lands and gains.
5: Suleiman was the most famous sultan of the Ottoman empire in the sixteenth century. His reign meant an increase of interest in art, expanded regions under Muslim law, and hundreds of thousands of men employed in the army, ready to fight wars against surrounding nations.

A Rare Recording of James Joyce...

In this rare 1924 recording, James Joyce reads from the Aeolus episode of his masterpiece, Ulysses. The recording was arranged and financed by the author’s friend and publisher Sylvia Beach, who brought him by taxi to the HMV (His Master’s Voice) gramophone studio in the Paris suburb of Billancourt. The first session didn’t go well. Joyce was nervous and suffering from his recurring eye troubles. He and Beach returned another day to finish the recording. In her memoir, Shakespeare & Company, Beach writes: "Joyce had chosen the speech in the Aeolus episode, the only passage that could be lifted out of Ulysses, he said, and the only one that was “declamatory” and therefore suitable for recital. He had made up his mind, he told me, that this would be his only reading from Ulysses.I have an idea that it was not for declamatory reasons alone that he chose this passage from Aeolus. I believe that it expressed something he wanted said and preserved in his own voice. As it rings out–"he lifted his voice above it boldly"–it is more, one feels, than mere oratory. The passage parallels the episode in Homer’s Odyssey featuring Aeolus, god of the winds. As a pun, Joyce sets it in a newspaper office where his hero Leopold Bloom stops by to place an ad, only to be stymied by the blustery noise of the printing presses and of the various "windbags" in the office. One character tries to entertain a couple of his friends with a mocking recital of a politician’s speech printed in the day’s newspaper.
