Sinossi

Rubáiyát of Omar Khayyám is the name Edward FitzGerald gave to his translation from Persian to English of a selection of quatrains attributed to Omar Khayyam, also known as "the Astronomer-Poet of Persia." This book had a great impact on the literary developments in Europe. By the 1880s, it was extremely popular throughout the English-speaking world. After the publication, numerous "Omar Khayyam clubs" were formed, and there was a "fin de siècle cult of the Rubaiyat."

A reconsideration of Virginia Woolf’s groundbreaking A Room of One’s Own through a very modern lens, revisiting Woolf’s now archaic politics and mining the text for lessons on how to be a writer.
The central message of A Room of One’s Own is that, to write, women must have money and a room of their own. The context of this has changed, so Queyras is asking what the contemporary version of that room is.

In his late thirties, John Julius Reel left his native New York for Seville, hoping to reinvent himself, find his voice as a writer, and cast off the shadow of his famous father. When his girlfriend dumped him after a month-long visit, the last tie was cut and he had to face his future from his stark, mosquito-infested rented room.
Alone in a foreign land, struggling with the language, and longing to find his place and purpose in the world, he began to rebuild his life.
What follows is a tender, comical, and illuminating story about what it means to learn to speak and think in a new way, and to spend so much time away from home that the foreign becomes familiar. This heartwarming chronicle filled with Sevillian delicias (soccer, Iberian ham, creative cursing, and one extraordinary woman) reveals how love, language, and culture can transform one’s life forever.
