Beschreibung

"Herbal Healing Guide" presents a comprehensive exploration of medicinal plants, masterfully bridging ancient healing traditions with modern scientific understanding. This authoritative work examines 50 essential healing herbs through three distinct lenses: their biochemical properties, historical significance across civilizations, and evidence-based applications in contemporary healthcare. The book's unique approach combines rigorous scientific research with time-tested traditional knowledge, making complex botanical concepts accessible to both healthcare professionals and interested individuals. The guide progresses systematically from detailed herb profiles, examining active compounds and therapeutic properties, to a fascinating journey through herbal medicine's evolution across different cultures. Each chapter builds upon this foundation, culminating in practical, research-based protocols for addressing common health conditions. Particularly valuable are the detailed guidelines for preparation methods, dosage considerations, and potential interactions with conventional medications, emphasizing safety and effectiveness in modern applications. What sets this book apart is its commitment to scientific rigor while maintaining respect for traditional wisdom. Drawing from multiple disciplines including botany, biochemistry, and anthropology, it presents verifiable evidence for herbal applications while acknowledging areas requiring further research. The inclusion of sustainable harvesting practices and biodiversity preservation considerations makes this more than just a healing guide – it's a comprehensive resource for understanding the integral role of medicinal plants in human health and environmental conservation.

It’s become increasingly clear that healthcare workplaces are filled with non-inclusive behavior. People who are underrepresented because of their gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation and identity, disabilities, and other factors regularly face biases and challenges that hold them back from success. These include everything from harassment, dismissive behavior, and lack of credit for their contributions, to pay inequity, extra hurdles to advancement, and more. And while many organizations are looking to address these issues with top-down initiatives, there's also an important role for individuals to play in creating a more inclusive culture via everyday acts of allyship.
In this new book, inclusive workplace expert Karen Catlin brings her popular Better Allies® approach to healthcare workplaces.
Belonging in Healthcare provides a practical, research-based guide for how to be a better ally for coworkers who are from underrepresented groups. Filled with firsthand accounts from nurses, physicians, staff, administrators, and professors, combined with published studies, the book will help you spot situations where you can create a more inclusive workplace and everyday actions to reshape culture so everyone can thrive.
This is the book that allies in healthcare have been searching for: an industry-specific guide to the mindsets, strategies, and changes needed to make their workplaces more equitable from the inside out.

In Silence: The Psychology and the Craft for Emotional Wellbeing, the author―a psychotherapist, university professor, educator, and researcher―takes the listener into a thought-provoking and heartfelt journey. She offers original perspectives and vulnerable stories from her clients, students, and personal life. Drawing on, among others, ethnographic and autoethnographic accounts, Lehmann serves the listener with psychological insights, offering a timely, critical, and thorough viewpoint to contrast with an overload of misinformation about what silence is and how people should feel when quiet. The listener will be challenged to aspire to balance when communicating or connecting with themselves, with others, with nature, or with art, or, for some, as part of a spiritual path. Whether in nature, at work meetings, on the road, in a classroom, in the therapy room, or at the dinner table, silences appear as coordinates, and this book is the missing map for surviving and thriving when navigating toward well-being.

This is a compendium of theories of the shape of the Earth, along with a great deal of 'Earth Mystery' lore. Richly illustrated, the Book of Earths includes many unusual theories, including Columbus' idea that the Earth is literally pear-shaped, modern theories that the Earth was originally tetrahedral, and so on. Kenton also covers many traditional theories including the ancient Babylonians and Egyptians, Hindu and Buddhist cosmology, and those of the Peruvians, Aztecs and Mongols. She also discusses modern alternative theories such as that of Reed and Koresh. Strangely enough, she misses or ignores the modern flat earth theory of Rowbotham. This is the only apparent omission in this definitive study. Kenton has no apparent axe to grind: this is simply a very readable survey of the literature if you have any interest in 'Earth mysteries"
