Summary

This carefully crafted ebook: "The Complete O. Henry Short Stories (Rolling Stones + Cabbages and Kings + Options + Roads of Destiny + The Four Million + The Trimmed Lamp + The Voice of the City + Whirligigs and more)" is formatted for your eReader with a functional and detailed table of contents. William Sydney Porter (1862–1910), known by his pen name O. Henry, was an American writer. O. Henry's short stories are known for their wit, wordplay, warm characterization, and surprise endings. Most of O. Henry's stories are set in his own time, the early 20th century. Many take place in New York City and deal for the most part with ordinary people: clerks, policemen, waitresses, etc. O. Henry's work is wide-ranging, and his characters can be found roaming the cattle-lands of Texas, exploring the art of the con-man, or investigating the tensions of class and wealth in turn-of-the-century New York. O. Henry had an inimitable hand for isolating some element of society and describing it with an incredible economy and grace of language. Some of his best and least-known work is contained in Cabbages and Kings, a series of stories each of which explores some individual aspect of life in a paralytically sleepy Central American town, while advancing some aspect of the larger plot and relating back one to another. Table of Contents: Cabbages And Kings: The Proem By The Carpenter "Fox-in-the-morning" The Lotus And The Bottle Smith Caught Cupid's Exile Number Two The Phonograph And The Graft Money Maze The Admiral The Flag Paramount The Shamrock And The Palm The Remnants Of The Code Shoes Ships Masters Of Arts Dicky Rouge Et Noir Two Recalls The Vitagraphoscope Heart of the West My Tussle with the Devil by O. In J. Robert Lennon's America, a portal to another universe can be discovered with surprising nonchalance in a suburban backyard, adoption almost reaches the level of blood sport, and old pals return from the dead to steal your girlfriend. Sexual dysfunction, suicide, tragic accidents, and career stagnation all create surprising opportunities for unexpected grace in this full-hearted and mischievous depiction of those days (weeks, months, years) we all have when things just don't go quite right.

My name is Jack Pilton and I moved into one of those lovely old terraced houses that Cornwall is so famous for in a village called Little Trumpington. Low beamed ceilings and thick walls with stone stairs worn with thousands of shoes over hundreds of years. I'm not wealthy but I've enough for a comfortable lifestyle supported by the romantic novels I write for Amazon.
Soon after I arrived in the village I was asked if the local women’s group could use my lounge for their weekly card game and I was welcome to join in if I could play whist. The previous owner had been happy to let the group play in the modernised lounge that had been knocked through into the dining room and kitchen, so there was plenty of room. I didn’t see any reason not to let them play there.
I was very soon swept away with the game but more importantly the forfeits that the losers agreed to. The winners would spank the losers but as I was the only man in the group I eventually did all the spanking.
That was all eight months ago and since then spanking has become such a part of the women’s group that we had a spanking stall at the village fete a couple of weeks ago. After that, I proposed marriage to Mary who seemed to be the leader of the group and she accepted.
In this book, more women join the group and I have to spank them all. In addition, Samantha’s daughter Primrose is spanked three times and my neighbour is spanked as well. Finally, Mary and I get married and I spank all the ladies at the wedding naked which produces some wonderful wedding photos.

Being acknowledged for what you do is always very welcome. When it comes to Oscar’s, Emmy’s, Pulitzer’s and Nobel’s it’s also international news and for many, the pinnacle of their career.

The Nobel Prize is much lauded and very difficult to secure. In this volume we list ten of its winners over the decades who were famed for their literature. The prize is given with an emphasis on its contribution to literature and its influence in the world and for the individual, more usually, for the body of work created.

So, whilst none of the stories in this volume were winners in their own right, their authors most certainly were. They perfectly illustrate both the nature and mastery of the writing and the power and the purpose set within its storied prose.

In this novel, a dangerous journey on stormy seas leads a man to an island where the past of the United States lives on.The America of the past was extraordinary. Today, unfortunately, it has descended into debauchery and chaos. The government has turned on its citizens and erected a political inquisition to replace legitimate rule of law based upon hard facts. Economic excellence for the masses is forbidden, contrary to the nation’s individualist past.A splendid, yet elusive, island lies in the southern seas where the America of the past still resides. For more than three-hundred years, individuals have longed for it, adventurers have died for it, and here we find those who have actually found it.Between the pages of this book, you will discover your place inside this wonderful land of glorious achievement . . .or will you?
