Sinopsis

After the HEA is a collection of five gay romance stories about what happens after our couples walk hand in hand into the sunset. Stories about breakups, health scares, hiding in the closet, and infidelity, but mostly about fighting for happiness. Real, lingering happiness.
Contains the stories:

Team Luker: Uncertainty keeps Ellery Luker awake at night and robs him of his appetite. It's been five days since Jools, the love of his life and partner of twenty-five years, went to the doctor. Five days since the biopsy. Five days of going crazy with worry and what ifs? What if Jools suffer from the same disease that stole Ellery's mother when he was just eleven? What if all Ellery's worst fears come true?

Late Night Poetry: Saying "I love you" to someone who says it first, isn't supposed to lead to a break-up, but that happens to Sully and Lou. Sully is out while Lou is in the closet, so when their relationship deepens, Lou runs. But then Lou starts quoting poetry and leaving emotional messages of remorse on Sully's answering machine. Can love poems and honesty help Sully and Lou find their way back to each other?

Regaining Trust: When Lawrence walks in on the aftermath of his fiancé Frankie cheating on him, he's shattered. Frankie's the love of his life, the betrayal leaves him devastated. Frankie makes a huge mistake he regrets deeply before it's over. He pleads for a second chance, willing to do anything. A love that deep doesn't just stop, so Lawrence agrees to try. Will love be enough? Can trust once broken be rebuilt?

So Far Away: Engaged couple Zakarias and Julian are convinced nothing can separate them…until a global pandemic hits. Zakarias catches the virus with mild symptoms and isolates in the couple's guest house. The few meters dividing them might as well be the moon as he watches Julian, an ICU nurse, work himself to the bone. Worry build as the weeks pass. Will Zakarias be declared healthy before Julian burns out?

All I'll Ever See: The night Kieran bangs on Theo's door and kisses him changes both their lives forever. Theo has never been in the closet, but Kieran isn't out and risks losing everything should his family find out. They keep their budding relationship a secret, but can their love grow and flourish when hidden away in the dark? Or will it wilt and die before they have a chance to live happily ever after?

    A feel-good sapphic small-town summer romance featuring a bestselling fantasy author and a warm-hearted cafe-bookstore owner!

Hannah Taylor has some novel problems. The bestselling fantasy author, who writes under a pen name, is suffering from writer's block after her long-term relationship collapses. With the deadline for her next novel fast approaching, Hannah flees Manhattan for Sapphire Springs, New York, planning to hide away until she finishes her book. But when she's forced to visit the local cafe-bookstore, she accidentally finds herself with a new job and one very attractive new boss. Distractions she definitely doesn't need with her looming deadline . . . or does she?

George O'Grady worked hard to turn Novel Gossip into the cafe-bookstore of her dreams, but staff shortages are putting the normally unflappable lesbian under pressure. Hannah's appearance is a godsend. Although it would be easier if her new employee was less distractingly lovely, because George has a strict rule against dating employees.

Over the course of the summer, Hannah and George grow closer. But can the two book lovers overcome their novel problems to write their own happy ending?

    Ten Bridges I've Burnt - A...

    Brontez Purnell

In Ten Bridges I've Burnt, Brontez Purnell—the bard of the underloved and overlooked—turns his gaze inward. A storyteller with a musical eye for the absurdity of his own existence, he is peerless in his ability to find the levity within the stormiest of crises. Here, in his first collection of genre-defying verse, Purnell reflects on his peripatetic life, whose ups and downs have nothing on the turmoil within. "The most high-risk homosexual behavior I engage in," Purnell writes, "is simply existing."

The thirty-eight autobiographical pieces pulsing in Ten Bridges I've Burnt find Purnell at his no-holds-barred best. He remembers a vicious brawl he participated in at a poetry conference and reckons with packaging his trauma for TV writers' rooms; wrestles with the curses, and gifts, passed down from generations of family members; and chronicles, with breathless verve, a list of hell-raising misadventures and sexcapades. Through it all, he muses on everything from love and loneliness to capitalism and Blackness to jogging and the ethics of art, always with unpredictable clarity and movement.

With the same balance of wit and wisdom that made 100 Boyfriends a sensation, Purnell unleashes another collection of boundary-pushing writing with Ten Bridges I've Burnt, a book as original and thrilling as the author himself.
