The Revelation of Revelation is a story never told before now because it wasn't to be told until now, according to scriptures. It didn't happen in a vision, not in a sudden rush of a mighty wind, but instead a gentle but profound inspiration.

Why do Christians—even mature Christians—still sin so often? Why doesn't God set us free? We seem to notice more sin in our lives all the time, and we wonder if our progress is a constant disappointment to God. Where is the joy and peace we read about in the Bible?

Speaking from her own struggles, Barbara Duguid turns to the writings of John Newton to teach us God's purpose for our failure and guilt—and to help us adjust our expectations of ourselves. Her empathetic, honest approach lifts our focus from our own performance back to the God who is bigger than our failures—and who uses them for his glory. Rediscover how God's extravagant grace makes the gospel once again feel like the good news it truly is!

The warm glow we feel at Christmas is more than sentiment; it is because of the real message of Christmas – Immanuel, God with us.
Christ’s coming is the epicentre of the Bible’s message: ‘When the fullness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son....’ It is the story of all Creation being renewed and coming to fulfilment through a man – The Man – Christ Jesus, conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, of the Father’s love begotten.
Such is the real meaning of Christmas.

This is an audiobook of Bodhi Leaves No. 148 by P. D. Premasiri, Buddhism in a Value-changing Society narrated by Jayashree Tata Nagaraj. The print edition can be found in the Pariyatti Edition of Collected Bodhi Leaves Vol. 5. The eBook of Bodhi Leaves No. 148 can be downloaded from the BPS website.

    Excerpt:

Values can be approached from two different standpoints. Most social scientists prefer to take the standpoint that may be called sociological relativism in dealing with questions of value in relation to different societies. The social scientist’s approach does not involve any absolute standard for judging the goodness or badness of the norms upheld by a particular society. The application of such an approach to examine the existing values of a traditional Buddhist society involves merely a description of the social behaviour of its people and a causal explanation of such behaviour.

The subject under investigation in the present discussion is the question of the relationship between Buddhism and changing values. Where doesBuddhism stand in a value-changing world? Here, we have admitted in some sense that we are living in a world in which values are changing. In this connection it may be questioned whether values themselves are changing or whether it is only our beliefs about values that are changing. I made the point that our beliefs about facts do change. But is there a sense in saying that facts changes?

    The Question of Canon -...

Did the New Testament canon arise naturally from within the early Christian faith? Were the books written as Scripture, or did they become Scripture? Why did early Christians have a canon at all?

These are the types of questions that led Michael J. Kruger to pick apart modern scholarship's dominant view that the New Testament is a late creation of the church imposed on books originally written for another purpose. Calling into question this commonly held "extrinsic" view, Kruger tackles the five most prevalent objections to the classic understanding of a collection of authoritative scriptures.

Kruger addresses foundational and paradigmatic assumptions of the extrinsic model as he provides powerful rebuttals and further support for the classic, "intrinsic" view.

Unlike many books written on the emergence of the New Testament canon that ask "when?" or "how?" Kruger focuses this work on the "why?"—exposing weaknesses in the five major tenets of the extrinsic model as he goes. While The Question of Canon scrutinizes today's popular scholastic view, it also offers an alternative concept to lay a better empirical foundation for biblical canon studies.
