Summary

Neither of them applied for this job. She has an eye for the unusual, a fondness for chaos, and a talent for turning coincidence into clues. He has retired, twice, and would very much like to be left out of anything labeled “peculiar.” Unfortunately, people keep knocking. 
When fate (and a lost parrot named Governor) throws them into a case together, what follows is less a methodical investigation and more a string of increasingly improbable events: a séance gone sideways, a cult of enthusiastic knitters, a cheese heist with international implications. 
Against all better judgment, they keep taking cases. Between her reckless brilliance and his begrudging competence, the partnership endures, held together by mutual disbelief, occasional success, and a shared weakness for cinnamon buns. Order and nonsense duel daily, but somehow, the mysteries get solved. Mostly. 
Just don’t ask how.
