Sinopse

This ebook is a hauntingly lyrical exploration of memory, loss, and the lingering presence of the past. Shadows That Remember blurs the boundaries between what’s gone and what still lives on in the quiet corners of our minds. With emotional depth and poetic storytelling, it’s a powerful reflection on the traces we leave behind—and the ones that never leave us.

This audiobook is narrated by an AI Voice. A young governess takes her first position: two children, a remote country house in Essex, and an employer in London who insists on one condition above all others. He is never to be troubled about them. Whatever happens, she must handle it alone.

At first Bly seems idyllic. Flora is enchanting, Miles is expelled from school for a reason nobody will name, and the housekeeper is kind but evasive. Then the governess sees a man on the tower. Later, a woman in black across the lake. The servants who describe them are certain of the identification and equally certain that both people are dead.

She becomes convinced the children see them too, and are concealing it. What follows is either a rescue or a persecution, and the novella never tells you which.

The most argued-over ghost story in English literature: are the apparitions real, or is the narrator destroying two children to save them from her own imagination? A century of readers has failed to settle it.

"The Other Gods" is a fantasy short story written by American author H. P. Lovecraft, on August 14, 1921. It was first published in the November 1933 issue of The Fantasy Fan. Barzai the Wise, a high priest and prophet greatly learned in the lore of the "gods of earth", or Great Ones, attempts to scale the mountain of Hatheg-Kla in order to look upon their faces, accompanied by his young disciple Atal. Upon reaching the peak, Barzai at first seems overjoyed until he finds that the "gods of the earth" are not there alone, but rather are overseen by the "other gods, the gods of the outer hells that guard the feeble gods of earth!" Atal flees, and Barzai is never seen again.
