On a dreary rainy day, siblings Sam and Sally find themselves bored and restless, unable to play outside. Their pet rabbit Mrs. Whiskers watches as the children complain about having nothing to do. Suddenly, mysterious music fills the air, and a magical music box appears in their living room.
From the ornate red and gold box emerges a clever orange Fox wearing a purple vest. The Fox promises to chase away their boredom with magical games and tricks. He pulls out a magic wand that makes their furniture dance and float through the air, delighting the children but worrying Mrs. Whiskers.
Next, the Fox introduces rainbow paint that supposedly cleans itself up. The children enthusiastically paint the walls with flowers, butterflies, and rainbows, but the magic paint begins dripping everywhere, turning their entire room into a colorful chaos. When the Fox summons dancing brooms and singing mops to clean up, his magic goes haywire, causing the house to become completely topsy-turvy with floating furniture and swirling disorder.
Realizing the mess has gotten out of hand, the Fox teaches Sam and Sally how to use magic responsibly. Together, they learn to control the wand and restore their home to its original state just before their parents return. The Fox imparts an important lesson: while fun and imagination are wonderful, responsibility and respect for others' property are equally important.
The story concludes with the Fox disappearing back into his music box, leaving the children with newfound wisdom about balancing adventure with accountability.

Is a tomato a fruit or a vegetable? The US Supreme Court takes on the case in this juicy history book for kids ages 7 to 10.

In the late 1800s, American produce king John Nix just wanted to sell tomatoes. But when import taxes on popular vegetables impacted his profits, he knew he had to remedy the situation. Nix set out to prove that tomatoes, which have seeds and grow on vines, were clearly fruits. That was the claim Nix argued all the way to the US Supreme Court. With Nix on Team Fruit, and the US government on Team Vegetable, both sides slung definition after definition in an epic, legal food fight. This little-known agriculturally based story from American history will fascinate young readers and encourage them to take a stand and defend their opinions.
