Justice is a fundamental concept that has shaped human societies for centuries. It refers to the principles of fairness, equality, and moral rightness that govern interactions between individuals, communities, and institutions. In its broadest sense, justice is about ensuring that everyone is treated with dignity, respect, and fairness, regardless of their background, status, or circumstances. It encompasses a wide range of areas, including law, ethics, politics, and social relationships, all of which are vital to creating a balanced and harmonious society.
The importance of justice cannot be overstated. Without it, societies risk descending into chaos and inequality. History provides numerous examples of injustice, from oppressive regimes to discriminatory practices, that have caused harm to individuals and groups. At its core, justice aims to prevent harm and ensure that people receive what they are due – whether that be rights, resources, or recognition. It seeks to promote fairness, resolve disputes, and protect the vulnerable, while holding individuals accountable for their actions.
Justice is not a one-size-fits-all concept. It is influenced by various philosophical and cultural perspectives that shape how it is understood and applied. In Western thought, justice has often been closely tied to concepts such as the rule of law, individual rights, and democratic governance. In other cultures, justice may be framed through the lens of collective responsibility, harmony, or social roles. These differing perspectives reflect the complexity of justice as a concept and the challenges in applying it universally.

Nobel laureate, party leader, peacemaker, first minister and statesman – David Trimble had many roles. But what is the real story behind the man who made headlines and changed lives?
In this definitive biography of Trimble's life and death, award-winning journalist Stephen Walker vividly details how a shy Belfast academic changed the political landscape of Northern Ireland.
Written with the cooperation of his widow, Lady Trimble, and their grown-up children, Peacemaker offers unparalleled insights into the life of the first person to be elected first minister of Northern Ireland and the most significant unionist leader since the creation of Northern Ireland in 1921. From the beginning of his political career in the dark days of the Troubles, to bringing unionism and nationalism together to end decades of division and violence and secure peace, Trimble's personal journey mirrors the story of Northern Ireland itself.
Drawing on over 100 fresh interviews, this is a colourful and personal account of the life of a key figure in Irish history and an essential companion to Stephen Walker's bestselling biography of John Hume.

    WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?
Every time another American law enforcement officer is hurt or killed doing something odd, this is the first thing that comes to my mind. If you are thinking of going into law enforcement, already an officer, or are a friend or family member of one and want some insight into the mindset such an individual needs to have, this book was written for you.
I won’t make any promises that this book will make you or them the safest cop on the streets. I wish I could, but none of us even know whether we have the next five minutes until we take our last breath. That doesn’t mean we should live our lives in fear, nor should we live like our lives don’t matter. My intention in writing this book is to help save lives by giving a different perspective of what it means to be a cop, using humor when possible.
What I will promise the reader is this: I will always tell you the truth, to the best of my knowledge.
    — Don P. Price
Incidents in this book are real events that happened very much as written, either to the author or one of his co-workers. Anyone who has an interest in the safety and well-being of law enforcement officers (LEOs), and their relationships with their friends and families, will have a better grasp of why they behave like they do. Dealing daily with strangers having one of the worst days of their lives takes a toll on these exceptional individuals. Having a certain mindset can make all the difference towards them making it home in one piece at the end of the day...and emotionally surviving to do it all again tomorrow. If you haven't a clue what it means to be a LEO, but simply want to get a glimpse behind the badge- if you want to share the adventure and boredom, the humor and the sadness, the fear and the anxiety these folks experience on any given day, then you should listen to this book!

    Deconstructionism - Dismantling...

Deconstructionism emerged in the late 20th century as a philosophical and literary movement that fundamentally questioned the nature of meaning, language, and interpretation. It is primarily associated with the work of French philosopher Jacques Derrida, who, in the 1960s and 1970s, began to develop ideas that would challenge long-held assumptions in philosophy, literary theory, and critical thought. The movement was a response to structuralism, which sought to uncover the underlying structures that govern language and society. In contrast, deconstruction aimed to show that meaning is inherently unstable and that texts and concepts can never be fully fixed or understood in a singular, unchanging way.

The foundational work of Jacques Derrida is central to deconstructionism. His concept of différance (a term he coined in 1968) highlighted the ways in which meaning is always deferred and never fully attainable. Derrida’s analysis of language showed that words and concepts derive meaning not from a stable, inherent essence, but from their relationships with other words. In this sense, meaning is always in flux, and any attempt to pin it down is doomed to fail. Derrida’s critique of binary oppositions—such as presence/absence, speech/writing, and truth/falsehood—argued that these pairs are not neutral but are hierarchically structured, with one term always subordinating the other. Through works like De la grammatologie (1967) and La Voie et le Voice (1967), Derrida redefined how we understand texts, insisting that they are always open to multiple interpretations.
