Summary

A two-time Pulitzer Prize–winning cartoonist shreds the GOP’s record of backward policies and abysmal leaders. Luckovich takes aim at the NRA, Trump, Bush, Ted Cruz, and more.

The Twisted History of the GOP is an editorial cartoon exploration into the ongoing crack-up of the Republican party. Once a proud, competent counterbalance to the Democratic party, the GOP began to change in the ’90s with the arrival of Republican representative and future House Speaker Newt Gingrich to Congress, assisted by radical radio host Rush Limbaugh and a new television network, the right-wing, propaganda-spewing Fox News. In the years that followed, they were aided by Mitch McConnell and the George W. Bush and Trump administrations, in transforming the GOP into what it is now: a fascist, racist, anti-science, pro-conspiracy cult, in thrall to the twice-impeached conman and former president, Donald Trump.

These cartoons will shock and delight you, and you won’t be able to look away from Luckovich’s witty editorial wisdom. Combining a rapier wit alongside exceptional caricatures, The Twisted History of the GOP will make you laugh until you cry.

Did you know that knitting works like meditation in chasing away a bad day?

If you’re intrigued by this idea and you’re an absolute beginner in knitting (and you also think it might be a little hard activity), this guide is definitely for you!

Here is a breakdown of what you’ll learn:

    ●      How to knit whatever you have in mind just by following easy tutorials (you can knit difficult things from the very start)

We can all agree—birds are terrible. They're stupid and won't shut up.

Featuring fifty of the absolute worst birds to fly the earth, Kracht identifies each of their most terrible qualities, details exactly why they suck, and shows you why. Including all-new, all-worst fowl, such as: the absolute waste of feathers Cruddy Turdstone (Ruddy Turnstone), the utter a-hole Blank Staring-Eyes Flycrapper (Black Paradise Flycatcher), the outright loser Dowdy Woodfucker (Downy Woodpecker), and many more!

Even the author's previous bird takedown guides are no preparation for this hilariously harrowing collection of squawking, conceited, trash-eating, and even murderous idiots. The horror. The horror . . .

LOVE BIRDS? HATE BIRDS?: For those who hate birds and for bird lovers everywhere with a sense of humor, this handbook is equal parts profane and funny, and—let's face it—true.

ENTERTAINING AND EDUCATIONAL: This uproarious guide to all things wings includes tips for bird identification, musings on the avian population and classification, and more. Plus, each entry is accompanied by facts about a bird's (annoying) call, its (dumb) migratory pattern, its (downright tacky) markings, and more.

Are you tired of feeling things? Do you want to stop caring about life’s endless nonsense? Congratulations—you’re ready for Stoicism.
Life is a relentless parade of disasters, disappointments, and idiots who won’t shut up. And yet, most people spend their days panicking, complaining, and overreacting—wasting precious energy on things they can’t control. A true Stoic? They sip their coffee in complete silence while the world crumbles around them.
This book will teach you the fine art of emotional detachment so that nothing—not traffic, not heartbreak, not even the impending collapse of civilization—can shake you.
    Inside, You’ll Learn:
💀 How to wake up every morning knowing that today will be a mess—and being fine with it
💀 The “Meh” response system for handling everything from job loss to bad WiFi
💀 Why material things are pointless (but also, let’s be real, heated car seats are amazing)
💀 How to pretend to listen while mentally escaping to Ancient Rome
💀 How to master the blank, expressionless stare that makes people deeply uncomfortable
💀 Why billionaires would be happier living in a cave (but you still need rent money, so don’t do that)
💀 The nightly ritual of contemplating death so you can sleep like a sociopath
This is not a self-help book. This is a self-detachment book. If you’re ready to become an unshakable force of calm indifference, to stop letting life stress you out, and to fully embrace the Stoic art of not giving a single damn, this is the book for you.
☠️ WARNING: Reading this book may cause:
✔️ A total loss of interest in pointless drama
✔️ An inability to react to nonsense, even when expected to
✔️ People wondering if you’re deeply enlightened or just emotionally broken

Clifton Bain now completes his trilogy with this look at the Peatlands of Britain and Ireland. A source of fuel for many generations, they are now a haven for wildlife and plants as well as a storehouse of greenhouse gasses. Their social history is one of exploitation and the value of mending and restoring is a major theme of the book. Like its predecessors, The Peatlands of Britain and Ireland will be a sumptuous volume richly illustrated with photographs and with drawings by the wildlife artist Darren Rees.

Many households will be paying 10–15% more than they should on their heating bill because of draughts, and when a lack of insulation is also an issue, that figure goes up. However, many draughts are easily fixed, and for a little outlay a considerable sum can be saved. Insulation can often be installed by the homeowner and lead to a substantial reduction in heating bills. This comprehensive guide covers all aspects of draughtproofing and insulation, with principles and techniques that can be applied in all homes.
