Summary

Revolution Triggers explores the multifaceted origins of revolutions, arguing they arise from the convergence of eroded political legitimacy, stark economic inequality, and fractured social cohesion. The book posits that revolutions aren't spontaneous outbursts but rather the culmination of deep-seated systemic failures. Consider, for example, how a government perceived as corrupt can lose the trust of its citizens, or how vast wealth disparities can fuel resentment and instability.

The book examines historical events like the French and Russian Revolutions to illustrate these principles, offering a sociological perspective. It progresses by first defining revolution and then systematically analyzing the erosion of political legitimacy, the exacerbation of economic inequality, and the breakdown of social cohesion across different chapters. This approach emphasizes the interconnectedness of political, economic, and social factors, providing a framework for assessing the risk of revolution in various societies.

National Ballot Measures 2024 - Living Democracy is my gift to the country that I love dearly and have always wanted to see it survive, thrive and improve.
Whenever I am forced to listen to a speech made by any of our Congressmen or women, I will often count the number of times they will refer to America as a 'Democracy'. They use that word an average of 15 to 20 times per speech.
They'll say things like - "Democracy is not pretty." Or they'll say, "Democracy is messy and people don't want to see how the sausage is made." Or they will say that people are trying to "end the 'American experiment in Democracy."
Or they'll quote one of the greatest of the founding fathers - Benjamin Franklin who was asked as the signers of of the Constitution were leaving: "Mr. Franklin, what kind of government have you given us?"
And Franklin replied: "A Republic, Madam, if you can keep it."
And so, we can take from this very portentous comment from Ben Franklin that the founding fathers were well aware that there would be forces someday who would try to take even this very modest amount of democracy - a Representative form of Democracy away from us.
It would take almost 250 years for this prediction to come true, but here we are under the threat of a dictatorship that could be forced upon us any minute will certainly spell the end of the American Experiment in Democracy, or it will cause a huge upheaval, perhaps even another Civil War, as many are predicting.
Not if we make a MAJOR IMPROVEMENT in our form of Government. .
Every election more than half of our registered voters sit it out and the reason is that every election we find ourselves voting for the same old same old. With the modern technology we have gained, there is no reason why we cannot vote on National Ballot Measures instead of two men in suits.

What happens to the US Army after the battles are over, the citizen soldiers depart, and all that remains is the Regular Army? In this pathbreaking work, Brian Linn argues that in each decade following every major conflict since the War of 1812 the postwar army has undergone a long, painful, and remarkably consistent recovery process as it struggled to build a new model force to replace the "Old Army" that entered the conflict.

Real Soldiering provides the first comprehensive study of the US Army's transition from war to peace. Linn challenges three common historical interpretations: confusing Washington policy with implementation in the field; conflating postwar armies with prewar armies; and describing certain postwar eras as distinct and transformational. Rather, Linn examines the postwar force as a distinct entity worthy of study as a unique and important part of US Army history.

Real Soldiering represents over four decades of research into the US Army and is deeply informed by Linn's experiences teaching and working with soldiers. Insightful and entertaining, provocative and empathetic, and a work of history with immediate relevance, Real Soldiering will resonate with military historians, defense analysts, and those who have proudly worn the US Army uniform.

This combo consists of 2 books:
1 - Emiliano Zapata Salazar was a revolutionary in Mexico. He was a key figure in the Mexican Revolt of the years 1910 until 1920, and also the primary leader of the people's revolution in the Mexican state of Morelos and the creator of the Zapatismo agrarian movement. Zapata was born in the rural town of Anenecuilco in the state of Morelos, at the time of a period when peasant communities dealt with increasing pressure from the small-landowning class, which monopolized land and water resources for sugar-cane production with the support of totalitarian Porfirio Daz (President from the year 1877 to 1880 and from 1884 to 1911). Zapata was associated with political efforts against Daz and the landowning hacendados from an early age, and when the Revolution emerged in the year 1910, he was placed as a key figure in the peasant insurgence in Morelos. He established the Freedom Army of the South with the help of certain other peasant leaders, and he rapidly rose to become its undisputed head.
2 - The cult image, female divine being, and folk saint Nuestra Seora de la Santa Muerte (Spanish meaning: Our Woman of the Holy Death) is a cult image, female divine being, and folk saint in Mexican Neopaganism and folk Catholicism. Her worshippers relate her with healing, security, and safe delivery to the afterlife simply because she's a personification of death. In spite of condemnation from Catholic Church leaders and, more just recently, evangelical movements, her following has grown substantially since the start of the twenty-first century. Santa Muerte, who was initially portrayed as a male character, is now generally illustrated as a skeletal female figure dressed in a long cape and clutching several things, most typically a scythe and a world.
