Summary

Once upon a time in China, there were no rivers or lakes at all, and the only water, in all the land was the Eastern sea, where four great dragons lived. The dragons names were: The Long Dragon, the Black Dragon, the Pearl Dragon and the Yellow Dragon. The dragons lived in the sea, and they spent most of their days swimming and playing there, but they could also fly, and play in the sky together amongst the clouds. One day they flew high up together over the sea and mountains, and suddenly, the Pearl Dragon said, "Come and look at this..." A very short, very old, magical, traditional short story legend from China. This is book 8 in our Classic Folk Stories and Traditional Fairy Tales series.

From a Newbery Medal-winning author comes a contemporary classic that's perfect for new parents as well as families with new siblings on the way.You were the first to smile. You were the first to cry. You were the first to lift your head, to look at the trees and flowers and sky. There is nothing like the first experience of having a child, a life-changing experience that completely transforms the meaning of love. While all babies in the family are special, a new sibling can be an especially challenging emotional transition for the firstborn, and this unique story addresses those insecurities head-on in a most gentle and lyrical way. You Were the First is also a touching tribute to any baby's early milestones--those unforgettable moments that will always be cherished. From first smiles to first cuddles and even to that first kiss, here's a loving ode to every child's--and parent's--momentous "firsts."

Space-Wolf by Ray Cummings - The lure of precious zolonite drew Morgan to barren Titan—to find a weird beast-empire ruled by a cold-eyed Earth-girl queen.
Solo Morgan laid his small portable spectroscope on the rock and sat down beside it to rest. He was panting, breathless from the climb up to these precipitous heights, even though the gravity here on Titan was less than that of Earth. It was night. The pallid little Sun had swiftly set behind a distant line of jagged mountain peaks. At the other horizon Saturn was rising, a monstrous glowing ball with a foreshortened segment of the rings spreading in a great iridescent flame of pale prismatic color across half the sky.
From here, Solo Morgan could just see the tiny blob of his one-man space-ship where he had left it down in the hollow. "He travels fastest who travels alone," had always been Solo Morgan's motto. But now at the age of twenty-eight, a big, rangy, handsome fellow with curly, crisp brown hair, it seemed to Morgan that he was somewhat a failure. So far he had failed to strike it rich; and a single big strike had always been what he was after. He set his jaw grimly as he thought of it. Well, now was the time. There was a lode of Zolonite here on this moon of Saturn. The spectroscopic evidence of it had been faint, yet unmistakable. Doubtless it was a single, small concentration; Zolonite perhaps in an almost pure state. Immensely more valuable than radium; more valuable, than any other radioactive substance known to earth.
Morgan stood up, rested, to continue his climb. By all that he had been able to determine from the faint spectroscopic bands, and the intensity registers which he had so carefully used in that circling flight around the bleak, uninhabited satellite, the Zolonite deposit must be somewhere in this neighborhood.

THE GIRL BROWNIES – ASHDOWN FOREST, ENGLAND 1919
Book 5 of 6 The Ashdown Forest Festival
The summary of this fifth book in the series is as follows:
The Girl Brownies prepare to perform their lantern adventure at Ashdown's first post-war Peace Festival. When their prized replica lantern disappears hours before the show, they spring into action - following muddy footprints (child-sized!), interrogating the village prankster, and ultimately discovering the lantern was mistakenly taken by historian Mr. Finch for his exhibit. After retrieving it, their performance becomes the festival highlight, blending storytelling with their real-life mystery-solving.
The adventure continues when Mr. Finch invites them to examine his museum's authentic lantern collection, hinting at future discoveries. Through the festival's celebrations, the girls witness their community healing from war while cementing their reputation as Ashdown's cleverest young detectives.
The initial opening credit music, “Joyful Journey”, which does run to approximately 2 minutes sets the scene, so to speak, recorder, tambourine, guitar and accordion in a folk/classical and cheerful mood. The closing music, “Bloom”, ends the tale on with more of the same at about 2 minutes and the same musical instruments etc. but more of an ending feel.
The story and music itself runs to just about 14 minutes and is narrated in my wife's voice, Claire, who actually was a ranger guide!
I do hope you enjoy this audiobook and let me know what you think, there are a lot more to come
