American politics today can be defined by the intense and increasingly toxic divide between Democrats and Republicans. Matthew D. Luttig explores why so many Americans have endorsed this level of political conflict.

Luttig illustrates how the psychological need for closure leads people, regardless of whether they identify as Democrat or Republican, to express more polarized political attitudes. This association between closed minds and partisan polarization is a new phenomenon and can be traced to broader changes in American society, such as the creation of ideologically distinct political parties and a fragmented media environment. These developments have simplified politics into a black-or-white, us-versus-them, conflict—making politics appeal to those with closed minds.

Today, strong partisans do not just cheer for their political party to win elections. Instead, more akin to religious true believers, strong partisans use their affiliation as a means of understanding right and wrong, friend and enemy, true and false. The Closed Partisan Mind reveals that these dynamics have manifested in both a new type of partisanship and a new type of partisan. The emergence of this new closed partisanship illustrates the dangers that polarization has wrought on society, politics, and the minds of Americans.

In the warm predawn darkness of June 22, 1941, 3 million men waited along a front hundreds of miles long, stretching from the Baltic coast of Poland to the Balkans. Ahead of them in the darkness lay the Soviet Union, its border guarded by millions of Red Army troops echeloned deep throughout the huge spaces of Russia. This massive gathering of Wehrmacht soldiers from Adolf Hitler's Third Reich and his allied states – notably Hungary and Romania – stood poised to carry out Operation Barbarossa, Hitler's surprise attack against the country of his putative ally, Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin.
Of the Soviet generals, none played as crucial a role in the war as Georgy Konstantinovich Zhukov, one of the most highly decorated army officers in Russian military history. At critical stages during the Second World War, it seemed as if it was Zhukov alone who stood between Russian defeat and German victory. Zhukov was ultimately involved in all the major battles on the Eastern Front, including Moscow, Leningrad, Stalingrad, Kursk, Bagration, and the final assaults into Poland and Germany to capture Berlin.
Stalin came to depend on Zhukov’s ruthless military skills for victory, but in the cut-throat Soviet Union, that was always a double-edged sword, because it seemed that Stalin envied Zhukov and feared him as well. Zhukov, who could be as aggressive and blunt as Stalin, was one of the few people prepared to stand up to the Soviet dictator and argue with him, and as many Soviet politicians and generals learned to their detriment, going toe to toe with one of the most brutal leaders of the 20th century was a highly risky venture. However, the mutual understanding they forged as they confronted the Germans may have played the biggest role in Hitler’s demise.

Ghallughara June 1984 (Akhin Dithe Ate Haddin Handaye Haal) is a powerful and emotional book written by Bhai Raj Singh, who personally took part in the events of June 1984. This book offers a firsthand account of the tragic attack on Sri Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple) and the heroic Sikh resistance led by Sant Giani Jarnail Singh Khalsa Bhindranwale.
Though Bhai Raj Singh is not a professional historian, his storytelling in Ghallughara June 1984 (Akhin Dithe Ate Haddin Handaye Haal) is heartfelt, simple, and deeply moving. He combines personal experiences with poetic expression to bring to life the real pain, courage, and faith of those who lived through the Ghallughara (massacre). His words take readers directly into the emotions and atmosphere of that time.
Ghallughara June 1984 (Akhin Dithe Ate Haddin Handaye Haal) reflects the spirit of the Sikh warriors from the 18th century—brave, spiritual, and full of passion for justice. The characters in the book show the inner strength and high moral values of the Sikh community during this dark period in history.
This book is more than just a personal story—it is a window into an important chapter of Sikh history. Ghallughara June 1984 (Akhin Dithe Ate Haddin Handaye Haal) helps readers, especially the younger generation, understand the truth of what happened in June 1984 from someone who saw it with his own eyes and felt it in his bones. If you are looking for a deeply honest and emotional account of the June 1984 tragedy, Ghallughara June 1984 (Akhin Dithe Ate Haddin Handaye Haal) is must-read and published by Bibekgarh Publication.

    Rules for Grown-Ups - Stoic...

What does it mean to live well in an age of distraction, fragmentation, and noise? Quinn Halverstrom, philosopher and founder of the School of Clear Action, argues that the answer is not new—it is ancient, tested, and more urgent than ever.
Rules for Grown-Ups draws on Stoic philosophy, depth psychology, modern behavioral science, and the hard-won insights of thinkers from Marcus Aurelius to Viktor Frankl to build a practical framework for the most serious questions adults face: How do we find meaning when traditional structures have collapsed? How do we bear suffering without bitterness? How do we govern ourselves when the world is engineered to distract us? How do we raise children who can stand reality? How do we love honestly, work purposefully, and tell the truth when lying is easier?
Moving through fifteen interconnected chapters, Halverstrom examines the hidden architecture of a durable life—the load-bearing beams that hold everything together: voluntary responsibility, honest self-confrontation, disciplined attention, and the refusal to lie to oneself. He shows that meaning is not found but built, that suffering is the price of admission rather than a malfunction, and that the ancient distinction between what is within our power and what is not remains the most practical piece of philosophy ever written.
Through rigorous engagement with primary sources and contemporary research—from Epictetus and Plato to Jung, Gottman, Frankl, and Bonanno—and grounded in real decision scenarios drawn from years of advisory work with executives and entrepreneurs, each chapter translates philosophical principle into a discipline one can actually use. The book does not promise comfort. It offers something more durable: clarity about what a well-built life requires and the intellectual tools to begin constructing it.
This is philosophy as a survival skill—dense, honest, and unsparing—for anyone willing to do the harder work of becoming someone they could respect.

Edward Abbey, who never much liked Alaska, called it "our biggest, buggiest, boggiest state." To others, it has been a cure for despair. When Michael Engelhard moved to Fairbanks more than three decades ago, he was a cheechako, a subarctic tenderfoot. Gathering skills and experiences the hard way, he attained "Sourdough" status while realizing there would always be more to learn, see, and do in the land of midnight sun and auroras.

En route, Engelhard suffered frostbite, stubborn yaks, grizzly charges, trophy hunters, cold-water immersion, heartbreak, incontinent raptors, one pesky squirrel, and honeymooners from abroad. He tried to rescue a raven and explored Arctic dunes and a glacier's blue heart, and his own as he mingled with caribou on their epic journeys.
