Summary

When Durfee rode up the valley, he found that the country fitted his mind as a glove fits the hand—the sort of glove that he preferred to wear—a little lighter in the leather and more delicate in the make than most of the buckskin gloves that a cowboy will buy.
He liked the look of things, because that look was clean. He saw the gleam of water, here and there; water that looked as though it might be running even in the dry middle of September, after a rainless season. And there were plenty of hills for variety, and yet it was a range that a man could gallop over. Three men, on this sort of a lay, could do the work that sometimes took the riding of ten in worse regions. And then the grass grew thick and short on the ground, the sort of grass that is sweetest on a cow's tooth, that lays the fat round and hard along her backbone, to say nothing of horses. It was a good limestone country, too. He could see the white ribs and elbows of the stone punching through the sides of the hills. And where limestone shows, it will be in the water, and the limestone water makes bone, and bone is the first necessity in the scheme of things, if you want to build a horse.

In a quiet valley where time moves a little slower and shadows fall a little longer, a tale has been whispered for generations. Washington Irving's The Legend of Sleepy Hollow captures the strange charm of a world perched between dream and folklore—where superstition lingers, and the night rides on a restless horse.
This classic story blends gentle satire, eerie beauty, and a touch of the uncanny. It doesn't just haunt—it hums like a memory just out of reach.

Nestled in a towering fir forest on British Columbia's famous Vancouver Island, Three Rivers Campground is calling you to come relax, explore, and maybe even fall in love . . .

Emily Rivers does not have time for love.

Or dating. Or even a one night stand.

As the eldest of the Rivers sisters, she's too focused on keeping her family's campground running in the wake of a devastating tragedy to even think about romance.

When Kim Jefferies shows up at the local small town bar looking like a lesbian snack on a stick, Emily writes her off as yet another tourist just passing through—no matter how much the butterflies in her stomach try to tell her otherwise.

Only Kim's plans of 'passing through' fade the second she sees Emily Rivers, despite the fact that the whole point of her soul-searching journey was to stop falling for random women in bars who only lead her to heartbreak.

The last thing they're looking for is a love story, but with the help of some conniving sisters, an interfering bartender, and the magic of the great outdoors, that might be exactly what Kim and Emily are going to get.

"Don't Mister!" the boy pleaded as his hands went up in front of his face. But at that instant a large copperhead snake slithered from beneath the rotting tree and struck at the man with the empty eyes. The man jerked back as the snake sunk its fangs into his left arm. At the same moment, the boy sprung to his feet and began running once again. The man, curious and distracted, calmly pulled the snake from his arm without a sound and tossed it to the ground. As the boy looked back, a shot split the forest ceiling, and the man with the dark eyes stared at the dead snake. In one awful final glance, the boy saw the man reach down, pick the snake back up and take a slow bite from its side. But when the man--the thing, turned back for the boy, he was gone. In the distance, smoke from a burning cabin told the boy he would never go home again. It was after that when the nightmares began.
