Sinopse

In his own words, the war of the doubly pioneering Lt Col Gerhard L. Bolland—82nd Airborne paratrooper on D-Day and senior OSS field operative on Operation Rype.Unconventional warfare tactics can have a considerable effect on the outcome of any war. During World War II, the United States government developed and employed two new methods of fighting. The first was the development of "paratroop" units, as they were first called. The second was the formation of a covert and sabotage operations branch called the Office of Strategic Services (OSS). Lt. Colonel Bolland was involved in both of these "firsts." During the D-Day invasion he parachuted behind enemy lines, jumping out of the 82nd Airborne lead aircraft with General James Gavin. After fighting with the 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment for thirty-three days straight, he returned to England and became involved with the OSS Scandinavian Section. He served as Field Commander for their Operation, code named Rype. This was the only American military undertaking, albeit covert, in Norway during the entire course of the war. As a young boy growing up in rural western Minnesota, Bolland got his military start with the Minnesota National Guard, before being accepted to West Point, solely on merit. His military career lasted seventeen years. Lt. Colonel Bolland ended up with numerous decorations including the Norwegian Liberation Medal and Citation, the Bronze Star for valor, the French Fouragerre of Croix de Guerre with Palms and posthumously the Congressional Gold medal awarded to the OSS Society on behalf of all former OSS members that served during the war. His story reveals the struggles, successes, failures and ultimate victories, detailing what went right and what went wrong with these new unconventional methods of fighting.

In this first interpretative, comprehensive history of Barack Obama's presidency in its entirety, Claude A. Clegg III situates the former president in his dynamic, inspirational, yet contentious political context. He captures the America that made Obama's White House years possible, while insightfully rendering the America that resolutely resisted the idea of a Black chief executive, thus making conceivable the ascent of the most unlikely of his successors. In elucidating the Obama moment in American politics and culture, this book is also, at its core, a sweeping exploration of the Obama presidency's historical environment, impact, and meaning for African Americans—the tens of millions of people from every walk of life who collectively were his staunchest group of supporters and who most starkly experienced both the euphoric triumphs and dispiriting shortcomings of his years in office. Drawing on an expansive archive of materials, including government records, speeches, and insider accounts, The Black President will be required reading not only for historians, politics junkies, and Obama fans but also for anyone seeking to understand America's contemporary struggles with inequality, prejudice, and fear.

“The way to reach God’s will is to go through life's trials & struggles. It means that to achieve any sort of heavenly state we must be tested. We
are guaranteed to fail some of those tests. That's ok as long as we learn from them and find the strength to continue traveling the road. We
become stronger by overcoming our failures and ultimately find the strength to reach our destination.”
“Larry is a modern-day crusader, The Larry Ray Hardin that you will see in much of this book is a younger, angrier version than the one I came
to know in San Diego. What makes Larry’s journey great is not just that he refused to be lured in by corruption as he walked the path through
hell. What makes it great is that he learned from his failures along the way, replaced anger with wisdom, and continued to walk the road to
    heaven.”

The Unindexed Mind: Footnotes from the Storm is the follow-up to the original chaos—part journal, part philosophy, part stand-up set written in the eye of a hurricane. This isn't self-help. It's self-interrogation. These are rants, reflections, and stories collected from the trenches of working-class America and the cluttered corners of a mind that refuses to be simplified. From conspiracy logic to retail breakdowns, from profound loneliness to sudden laughter in the face of it—this is not a polished manifesto. It's a footnote collection from a storm you didn't know you were in. If you're tired of curated wisdom and sanitized thinking, step inside. This book won't save you. But it might help you feel a little less insane.

Just when life seemed rosy and the sun was shining, Dr Bhaskar Bora sustained a severe spinal cord injury in July 2019 following an operation, which left him with paralysis of both legs, a non-functioning right hand and a long stay in the hospital, eventually leading to a forced medical retirement from his medical career and a wheelchair in place of a sports car. He had to undergo multiple operations but is now permanently disabled. Two months after his injury, he was also diagnosed with cancer of the thyroid, for which he needed further operations.
This book is an honest reflection of his life experiences to motivate people to believe that every adversity can still be turned into an opportunity. That it is important to be filled with gratitude and appreciation for all the things that we take for granted.
In ‘The Second Chance in Life', this confessed workaholic acknowledges the challenges and miracles that have influenced his life and, in a bravely honest style, shares how even your darkest days can be a springboard for positivity. How important acceptance and resilience are in turning adversities into opportunities. This book also shows the need to appreciate every little thing in life and not take anything for granted. With various real-life examples and practical strategies, this book is an inspirational work for self-help and motivation.
What the universe throws at us we cannot control, but how we react to these life's curveballs defines who we are.
