Summary

Tasha is an eighteen-year-old orphan with nowhere to go once her adopted family kicked her to the curb. She's lucky that she's picked up by Madame Nijah, owner for a risqué nightclub that offers her patrons entertainment of a... different kind.

"I have a client who just lost his Submissive," she says, eyeing Tasha up and down.

She can't help but squirm. She doesn't look exactly her best right now. Her clothes are torn in places, her face is a mess of tears and dirt, and her hair hasn't been washed in days. She waits for the woman to dismiss her, except she says:

"You could be his type."

She doesn't know what's wrong with her because instead of pulling back in disgust, she asks, "What if he doesn't like me?"

"Then, I'll find someone else."

It's that easy. That night, she meet her Dominant, an Alpha Werewolf named Raphael who is almost twice her age. He takes her first time - and her heart - and shows her a world where pleasure and pain are intertwined, where being tied up by ropes is an art and being used by strangers is an honor.

~~~~~ PG Excerpt ~~~~~
Nijah looks at her considerately for a long moment. Long enough that Tasha would've started worrying about her driving if the road wasn't still completely straight and there was no other cars on the road. "Do you want to know what I do for a living, darling?" she asks.
Tasha nods, curiousity getting the better of her.
"I provide a safe space for people to reenact their deepest, darkest, sexual fantasies," she says smoothly. "You're not bad-looking. You could be one of my girls," she says.
Tasha tenses, hugging her bag closer. "What?"
"Relax, darling. I won't make you do anything you don't want to. But if you want to..."
Curiousity has always been one of her worst traits. "If I want to what?" Tasha prompts.
"I have a client who just lost his Submissive," she says, eyeing her up and down.
Tasha can't help but squirm. She knows she doesn't look particularly attractive right now. Her clothes are torn in several places, her face a mess of tears and dirt, and her hair hasn't been watched in days. She waits for the woman to say 'forget it' and dismiss her, except Madame Nijah opens her mouth and says:
"You could be his type."
"What type?" she asks. Surely someone like her can't be anyone's type right now.
"A natural submissive," Madame Nijah states a matter-of-factly.
"I'm- I'm not a natural submissive."
Madame Nijah cocks her brow again. "Got you in the car without even having to raise my voice, didn't I?"
Tasha blushes. "You seem like a nice person."
"I'm a very nice person," Nijah reassures her with a laugh. "Raphael is my best client. Pays for the room on time, brings his own submissive and shares her with my other clients without asking for discount," she says. "I just rent the room for him and makes sure it's clean. He's a good guy and his sexual preferences are easy enough. You don't have anything against werewolves, do you?"
Tasha shakes her head.
"You're petite, so he'll have to work you up to taking him and his knot. I bet you'll both enjoy the process. He's particularly fond of high-end toys.”
Tasha doesn't know what's wrong with her because instead of pulling back in disgust at the vivid descriptions of what the man intends to do to her, she asks, "What if he doesn't like me?"
"Then, he'll pay for your services and I'll find someone else to his liking. I have a feeling that won't be a problem, darling. I can tell you're exactly his type."
    Nick Ackerman’s life is an aimless circuit between his uninspiring job and the local bar until a note from a stranger changes everything. He learns he has a 14-year-old son, Billy, whose grandmother can no longer look after him. Railroaded into fatherhood, Nick takes in the resentful Billy and shuffles Grandma Evie off to the nearby dementia ward at Prairie View Manor. Things get off to a rocky start: father and son are little more than strangers, and Nick struggles with his new caretaking role while Billy can’t seem to let go of his. Luckily, there is Sarah, a housekeeper in the dementia ward and the single mother of an energetic and offbeat five-year-old. It is Sarah who Nick turns to as a parental role model and maybe something more.
    Nick, Sarah, and Billy all carry their own betrayals and disappointments and are used to keeping others at a distance, but during the dog days of summer, they are given a chance to leave past hurts behind and find a new kind of family.
    Compassionate and closely observed, Cattail Lane is a moving exploration of forgiveness, second chances, and the everyday moments where we might find our way to one another.
    INTRIGUE. TENSION. LOVE AFFAIRS:
    In The Historical Romance series, a set of stand-alone novels, Vivian Stuart builds her compelling narratives around the dramatic lives of sea captains, nurses, surgeons, and members of the aristocracy.
    Stuart takes us back to the societies of the 20th century, drawing on her own experience of places across Australia, India, East Asia, and the Middle East.
    Elizabeth Ogilvie sailed on the maiden voyage of the S.S Viking with rather mixed feelings. It was not that her job, as assistant purser, was likely to set her any problems; nor was she worried at having to keep secret the fact that she was virtually related to the Chairman of the shipping line, who was also on board — travelling incognito, for reasons of his own. What had been so upsetting for Elizabeth was to discover, at the last moment, that the Captain of the ship was to be Hugh Anson, with whom she had once been in love. But although Elizabeth did not know it, there were others on board with even bigger reasons for treating the Captain with hostility. Altogether it looked like being anything but a peaceful voyage!
