  Battleship Commander explores Lee's life from boyhood in Kentucky through his eventual service as commander of the fast battleships from 1942 to 1945. During his service in the Navy Department from 1939 to 1942, Lee prepared the U.S. Navy for war at sea, and was involved in inspecting designs for battleships, cruisers, aircraft carriers, and destroyers.   Working in industry as a Chemical Engineer boring ... who says it is? Most people consider working in the Industrial world to be fairly mundane and boring. Well I am able to contradict that erroneous belief. My forty years in industry have been far from ordinary and unexciting. In fact those years have been so eventful and exhilarating, I felt compelled to put events, incidents and a plethora of eclectic, fascinating characters into print and write about my career as a Chemical Engineer from the late sixties to the beginning of the eighties. While I typed away, it occurred to me, these stories are so way out, fantastic and implausible, no-one will believe a word of it. Using that old cliché, fact is often stranger than fiction.
