This story takes place more than two hundred years from now. Earth is no longer habitable, at least not comfortably so. Almost the entire story takes place aboard a spaceship called "Star One." The ship itself is run almost exclusively using technology, including a supercomputer named LOGIC. LOGIC is a secret program maintained by a tech guru named Sydney. When LOGIC starts sending threatening messages to the inhabitants of the ship, the Commander of the ship panics and turns to a group called the "Faithful" to help prevent the threatened self-destruction of "Star One." The "Faithful" is nothing more than a group of people on "Star One" who don't completely trust technology. They are interested, some would say obsessed, with older technologies – the stuff that we have today in the 21st century. Ironically, it is this older technology that may hold the key to survival for Commander Morris and the rest of the staff and civilians onboard his ship.
