Lionel Pigot Johnson was born in 1867. He was a poet, short story writer, essayist, and critic. A member of the notorious and influential Rhymer’s Club his poetry and short stories are studded with the themes of the times. His most influential work ‘Dark Angel’ was published in 1893. Lionel Johnson collapsed and died at the Green Dragon on Fleet Street in 1902.
