Summary

First published in 1768, “A Sentimental Journey Through France and Italy” is a comic novel by Laurence Sterne. In 1765, Sterne travelled through France and Italy as far south as Naples, and after returning determined to describe his travels from a sentimental point of view.

“A Sentimental Journey Through France and Italy,” a combination of autobiography, fiction, and travel writing, chronicles the journey through France of a charming and sensitive young man named Yorick and his servant La Fleur.

The novel was extremely popular and influential and helped establish travel writing as the dominant genre of the second half of the 18th century. It defies conventional expectations of what a travel book might be. Unlike prior travel accounts which stressed classical learning and objective non-personal points of view, “A Sentimental Journey Through France and Italy” emphasized the subjective discussions of personal taste and sentiments, of manners and morals over classical learning. An apparently random collection of scattered experiences, it mingles affecting vignettes with episodes in a heartier, comic mode, but coherence of imagination is secured by the delicate insistence with which Sterne ponders how the impulses of sentimental and erotic feeling are psychologically interdependent.

My Diary of Failures: The 1980s and 1990s is a laugh-out-loud memoir that dives headfirst into the chaotic, awkward, and hilariously messy life of Kimberly Dennis. Growing up in Brooklyn during the 1980s, Kimberly navigates middle school embarrassments, disastrous family outings, and the relentless horrors of teenage fashion. By the 1990s, she's fumbling through early adulthood with a cocktail of bad decisions, failed jobs, and cringe-worthy dating misadventures—all while trying to figure out what it really means to be an adult.
With razor-sharp wit and unfiltered honesty, Kimberly turns her relentless string of failures into relatable, comedic triumphs. From triggering fire alarms in a college dorm to a Y2K party that ends in total disaster, her life is a series of "what not to do" moments that will leave you laughing, cringing, and rooting for her all at once.
This book is for anyone who's ever felt like they were one bad decision away from chaos—or who just needs a reminder that failure can be pretty damn funny.

What the Lives of 5 Puritan Women Teach about Holy Living and Devotion to God
The writings of the Puritans have had a recent resurgence, but many Puritan women have often been overlooked or misunderstood. As mothers, daughters, grandmothers, and wives, the vibrant faith of Puritan women has much to teach modern day readers.
In 5 Puritan Women: Portraits of Faith and Love, Jenny-Lyn de Klerk shows how the lives and writings of Christian women encourage the beauty of holy living and provide practical wisdom for the home and the church. Each chapter portrays a different Puritan woman—Agnes Beaumont, Lucy Hutchinson, Mary Rich, Anne Bradstreet, and Lady Brilliana Harley—telling their stories of devotion, lament, and family. By studying their faith journeys, modern readers can learn more about their roles in church history and glean insights into the Christian life.

Paper Paradise: Do what you want to do is a roller coaster ride through the sex, drugs and rock and roll of the ’60s and ’70s to the high-flying business world of the ’80s and into the ’90s and beyond—with someone who lives it all right up to today.
It is a book about ambition, hunger, desperation, success and the fruits thereof. Oh yes, it is also about failure and fighting back.
Charting the extraordinary life and times of Glenn Wheatley, from working class boy to rock star of the 1960s and 1970s as a member of one of Australia’s most successful early bands, the Masters Apprentices, now immortalised in the ARIA Hall of Fame. In their heyday, the Masters drew bigger crowds than the Beatles in Australia.
In the 1980s he soared from rock star to star manager of the Little River Band and Whispering Jack, John Farnham. He also pioneered the FM Radio industry with the first FM radio station to go to air in Australia, EON FM in Melbourne. He then went on to build the foundation of what is now the Triple M radio network.
It is a narrative littered with casualties and is an actual account of a self-protective society that has its own Kings and Queens, its own iconography, its own language.
After a meteoric rise in the fast lane, and an equally spectacular fall, he is back on top and determined to stay there. Glenn is the ultimate rock and roll survivor.
