    I hate being a shifter.

I was bitten by a rogue in the Louisiana bayou, and I'm desperate to find a way to break the curse of the cat that shivers under my skin . . . and to steal a talisman that's rumored to do exactly that. Problem is, it's secreted away in the penthouse apartment of Alpha Anthony Holder, and he doesn't take it well when he catches me breaking in.

Surprisingly, instead of punishing me, Anthony offers training and protection, as well as a place in his pride. I want to say no, but I'm drawn to the big, sexy Alpha in inexplicable ways. He makes me feel safe, and his pride gives me a sense of family I've never had before.

Danger lurks in the bayou, however, exposing secret after secret. The rogue shifter who bit me is still on the loose, leaving bodies in its wake and putting the whole pride at risk. It's up to the Alpha to find and eliminate the threat before someone else dies.

Then I and Anthony can try to figure out why it seems like our connection is so much more than mere attraction. It's almost like we're fated mates.

But fated mates don't exist anymore. Right?

    Contains mature themes.

The 13th Spaceborne Assault Team battles for their survival on a faraway planet in this classic first entry in a science fiction military action trilogy.

Three thousand years ago, humanity expanded its presence by settling hundreds of worlds across the galaxy. Yet even as technology allowed them to boldly travel light years, the nature of humanity changed very little. Over time, countless regimes and governments rose and fell in a quest for power. In the end, only two remained—the industrial dictatorship of the Schlinal Hegemony, and the feudal-based Dogel Worlds. The last independent worlds of the Terran Cluster finally united as the Accord of Free Worlds—and fought back against the conquerors as no one had before.

    So, the war continues . . .

When the Schlinal Hegemony goes on the offensive, the Accord decides to send their forces to several other planets to disperse the Hegemony forces. The planet Porter is where Sgt. Joe Baerclau and his 13th Spaceborne Assault Team are deployed. Unfortunately, what begins as a holding action soon becomes a brutal battle against a relentless foe. And it soon becomes clear that the Lucky 13th only has three options left: keep the enemy at bay until backup arrives, hope the enemy decides to quit the fight in frustration, or be buried on Porter . . .

The Detective has been a mainstay of fiction writing ever since we can remember.
Their deductive powers, their intuition and fleet-footed grasp of every detail can often turn the unlikeliest situation, or bunch of red herrings, into a breakthrough to capture even the most ingenious and dastardly of criminals.
In this series our classic authors explore not only various themes, such as Occult Detectives, Female Detectives, Curious Crimes and a whole host more, but also bring a range and depth to the whole culture of criminality as we send in the Long Arm of the Law to bring justice on behalf of the society it serves.
In this volume London is both the location for the crimes and the scene of their unravelling.

The case at Nadderwater Rise Boilermakers left an enduring impression upon me. The Professor and I witnessed first-hand how machines can turn on their masters. When directed by a malevolent force, the results were utterly brutal.
As if horrid conditions are not enough, the culture of harassment ingrained into the workers only make it worse. Their daily lives are already drenched in danger, subject to severe injury without notice, yet they persist in tormenting each other, to their peril.
This is the eighth book in the Paranormology Series.
