Sinopsis

In "Pre-Raphaelite and Other Poets," Lafcadio Hearn collects and presents a meditative examination of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood alongside other influential Victorian poets. The text melds literary critique with lyrical prose, offering insights into the aesthetics and philosophies that underpin this pivotal movement. Hearn's style is marked by an evocative use of language that invites readers into the emotional depths and intricate visual worlds crafted by poets like Dante Gabriel Rossetti and Algernon Charles Swinburne. The book situates these poets within the broader context of a society grappling with modernity, artistic integrity, and historical nostalgia, enriching our understanding of their contributions to literature and art. Lafcadio Hearn was a writer known for his quest to bridge cultures, having lived in both Europe and Japan. His experiences informed his sensitivity to beauty and complexity in human expression, leading him to explore the rich aesthetic traditions of the Pre-Raphaelites. Hearn's own unique literary voice was shaped by his eclectic background, allowing him to appreciate the nuances of poetic form while also celebrating diverse cultural influences that informed these poets' works. "Pre-Raphaelite and Other Poets" is an essential read for anyone interested in Victorian literature or the evolution of modern poetic forms. Hearn's passionate exploration and his ability to convey the emotional resonance of these poets will inspire readers to appreciate the beauty and depth of their works. This book is not just an academic analysis but a heartfelt tribute to the transformative power of poetry.

    A Clever Man ::
    This poem is a send up poem written about the insatiable drive that an over zealous
    optimist has of self, that possesses boundless energy, and enthusiasm for life, without
    fully realizing the implications and inherent mistakes that can come about.
    It encapsulates Youthful exuberance in spades, without the experience that sets a calculus on
    ones takeup of endeavours. This poem was written by myself sometime ago, and has only now
    had the opportunity to be spoken of.
    It incorporates a lot of the famous and the great from the past, in the speakers soliloquy he pits himself as on a par with their greatness and accomplishments.

    A collection of twenty-five poems on faith and ocd. Intrusive thoughts come up with what seems like a million flashing warning lights like those coming up all at once on a car's faulty dashboard. None of them make sense but they all feel so real, so personal, yet so alien to the person's heart, nature and beliefs. Suffering in silence, unable to talk as it feels like no one will understand, or worse, that they will judge harshly... anxiety levels soar... isolation follows, even from God, because "He knows". The thing is, He does know. Brains glitch, they can be like the car's faulty dashboard. They are not our mind, and they are not our heart. The battle is very real and the steps taken to overcome must be acknowledged, but the journey was never meant to be travelled alone. These few poems are a prayer voyage towards restored intimacy in the courts of Grace and in the safety of one's hiding place, tightly tucked against His heart, positioned for recovery.

    Modern Man ~ Neanderthal with Manners
    Poem about the comparison of what it is to be a Modern man today. What it may have been yesterday, and what it
    was to compare it to our relatively recent ancestors from just a hundred thousand years or so
    - The Neanderthals.
    Would they have been as cruel to their fellow beings as possibly we are today. What does it mean to be classified as
    MODERN ! A modern Human ?
