  "The Book" is an unfinished short story by American horror fiction writer H. P. Lovecraft, believed to have been written in late 1933. It was first published in the journal Leaves in 1938, after Lovecraft's death.In the story fragment, the narrator is given an ancient book by a strange bookseller, and when he takes it home and examines it, weird and sinister events ensue.In October 1933, Lovecraft wrote in a letter:I am at a sort of standstill in writing—disgusted at much of my older work, and uncertain as to avenues of improvement. In recent weeks I have done a tremendous amount of experimenting with different styles and perspectives, but have destroyed most of the results.[2]The H. P. Lovecraft Encyclopedia suggests that "The Book" was one of the undestroyed experiments—an attempt to translate Lovecraft's poem sequence Fungi from Yuggoth into prose. (The completed fragment corresponds to the first three sonnets, which form more of a coherent narrative than the rest of the sequence).

  "Sandy, The Sandman article about how sleep better was really good it really helped me sleep last night," said Lance Alexander Kristine's Dad said to Zac's Dad at their work. 
   "Your Necromancer article was very good too" said Sandy. 
   "Alexander, Sandman my office now!" Shouted their boss. 
   "We better dash he has no patience," said Sandy. 
   "Yes," agreed Lance. 
   They virtually ran to the office. 
   "What took you, were you slacking off again," asked Orlando King their boss when they arrived not long later. 
   "No, sir," said Sandy. 
   "What did you miss us Lando, I'm touched," said Lance sarcastically. 
   "No I wanted to talk to you about your recent articles," said Lando. 
   "You read them my life is complete," Lance said. 
   Lando was used Lance's sarcastic manner he would wonder if something was wrong if he wasn't as sharp as a barb. 
   "I always read your articles I'm the editor," snapped back Lando. 
   "Did you love them," asked Lance. 
   "No, your interview with the victim was too short," said Lando. 
  "I interviewed a ghost they aren't very talkative," Lance said. 
   "They aren't," said Sandy standing up for his friend. 
   "You are a magician too," asked Lando. 
   "Yes," said Sandy. 
   "Talking about you your Sandman article was so bad I could sleep at all last night," said Lando.

  "The Very Old Folk" is the name given by publishers to a story found in the letter sent to Donald Wandrei by American horror fiction writer H. P. Lovecraft on 3 November 1927. It is a recording of a dream, where the protagonist is a Roman military official in the Vascon country near Pompelo. The countryside is, every year, ravaged by terrible hill people who kidnap citizens and perform cruel rituals at a Sabbath. The narrator wishes to lead a military expedition to crush these hill folk, as a feeling of approaching evil has enveloped the countryside, due to a riot between the citizens and the hill people. These hill folk came to trade, yet some of these are killed and later, no disappearances occur before the time of the Sabbath. The incursion is guided by a local-born son of Roman parents. As the Romans approach the seat of the Sabbath rituals, something terrible attacks them and in an instant, horrible things come to pass...
