Summary

Glinda of Oz L. Frank Baum - Glinda of Oz is the fourteenth Land of Oz book written by children's author L. Frank Baum, published on July 10, 1920. It is the last book of the original Oz series, which was later continued by other authors. Like most of the Oz books, the plot features a journey through some of the remoter regions of Oz; though in this case the pattern is doubled: Dorothy and Ozma travel to stop a war between the Flatheads and Skeezers; then Glinda and a cohort of Dorothy's friends set out to rescue them. The book was dedicated to Baum's second son, Robert Stanton Baum.

    GINORMOUS JOE'S BROKEN BARK
    written and read by S C Cunningham

    A stunningly illustrated children's picture book about a big white huggable rescue dog who learns to stand up to a bully. Ginormous Joe is the size of a lion but has the courage of a mouse. Through his story we learn to care for animals, that good wins over bad and family love conquers all.
    Joe is a big white huggable dog owned by a man called Nasty Nik. Nik is not a good dog owner, he is mean to the lovely Joe, so eventually Joe loses his confidence and his bark.
    One day Nik abandons Joe on the streets, but luckily the kind Tuttle family find and rescue him. With plenty of love, hugs and humour,they bring back his confidence.
    Joe shares with us his funny look on life;
    'Why does Mrs Tuttle pick up my poos, it's SO embarrassing?'
    'Why do the Tuttles changes their clothes every day, I have one white fur coat and it suits me just fine'.
    Young Mary Tuttle becomes his best friend and helps him through the embarrassment of being the size of a lion, but having no bark. The other dogs laugh at him, he is fed up and feels useless. Mary believes in him, she gives him love, hugs and courage.
    When a burglar visits the Tuttle's house, can love mend Ginormous Joe's Broken Bark?

    ABOUT THE AUTHOR / NARRATOR
    Author S C Cunningham, of Irish parents based in London is a Crime Investigator, she writes Rom Thriller and Paranormal Crime novels.
    As respite from the suspense of her books she produces the Ginormous Joe Series with her contemporary artist daughter Scarlett Raven, based on a rescue Pyrenees Mountain Dog called Joe, who was close to their hearts.
    Joe was found starved, manged, dying in the street. He had lost his voice and was unable to bark. His teeth were ground down from being chained and his bones and confidence had been knocked out of sync. He was ready to give up on life when the wonderful team at SPIN Rescue scooped him up and saved him. He lived on for a few more special happy years.

    "This was the cutest book that touched my heart. I have a Great Pyrenees named Angel that I adopted from an animal shelter and this story really hit home for me. The author did an outstanding job on this children's book. I enjoyed it and I think that any child would love this story too." 5 Stars
