Summary

Irede: the world’s oldest pleasure town, built as an offering to a god. Here alone, myth has endured the passing of millennia. In a townscape dyed vermilion by the light of hanging lanterns, fine wine and masterful music sate the desires of guests who travel from across the continent to experience Irede’s wonders—and meet its beautiful courtesans.

Yet all is not well here, as shades—supernatural entities born of human desires—lurk in the shadows, their motives known only to themselves, and deep beneath the earth, something primal stirs.

When Xixu, a straight-laced military officer, arrives from the capital to become the town’s newest shadeslayer, he encounters Sari, a young courtesan with hair the color of moonlight. Thus begins a tale of love and conflict, of desire and blood, and of gods and men.

LOUIE! YOU HAVE TO GET YOUR BROTHER. SOMEONE IS BREAKING ALL THE GAMES IN THE ARCADE!
Louie leaped up from his chair when he saw the desperate text from his non-Superhero friend Elliot and immediately turned to his Superhero brother Charlie for help:
“Charlie, you have to get down to the arcade right now! Someone is breaking all the machines. None of us will be able to play this weekend for Elliot's birthday!"
Charlie shrugged. “No one cares about that. Besides, I’m really tired. Good Superheroes always get their rest before fighting crime. Someone else will take care of it”.
Louie was shocked at his brother's words as they kept echoing in his mind: SOMEONE ELSE WILL TAKE CARE OF IT...
WHO is going to take care of it? All the other Superheroes at school are too lazy to do anything about it!
If his brother wasn't going to stand up against evil, and neither were any of the other Superheroes, he could as well become a hero and save the arcade and Elliot´s birthday... Right?
Follow Louie, an ordinary boy, on his brave journey as he struggles to become a real hero and fight evil and restore justice. In this heart-warming, fun, and heroic adventure, you will learn that believing in yourself and helping others are much more important than having real super powers.

Through the chapters, readers traverse the diverse tapestry of human fears, understanding their evolutionary roots, cultural amplifications, and the lasting impact of personal traumas. The exploration delves deep into the biology of fear, unraveling the neurological and physiological mechanisms that drive our emotional responses and perceptions of threats.
The narrative then shifts to societal and cultural influences, examining how norms, expectations, and media contribute to the collective consciousness and shape individual fears. The intersection of personal traumas with fear becomes a pivotal point of exploration, offering insights into therapeutic approaches and coping mechanisms that empower individuals to break free from fear's shackles.
The power of mindfulness and acceptance emerges as a guiding light, introducing practical tools to confront and transcend fear with clarity and courage. Albert Einstein's restless intelligence drove him to ponder the biggest topics the universe has to offer: light, time, mass, energy, and more. His conclusions changed the way people thought about the laws of physics. But first, he had to pass his university entrance exams. This graphic biography traces Einstein's path from his home country of Germany to his studies in Switzerland to his time in the United States. It also follows his life as an international scientific celebrity and his refusal to stay silent in the face of anti-Semitism.

I'll be famous one day, but for now I'm stuck in middle school with a bunch of morons.

Being a kid can really stink. And no one knows this better than Greg Heffley, who finds himself thrust into middle school, where undersized weaklings share the hallways with kids who are taller, meaner, and already shaving.

In Diary of a Wimpy Kid, author and illustrator Jeff Kinney introduces us to an unlikely hero. As Greg says in his diary:

Just don't expect me to be all "Dear Diary" this and "Dear Diary" that.

Luckily for us, what Greg Heffley says he won’t do and what he actually does are two very different things.
