Summary

Kennith York presents a rich prehistory and history of the World, Native America and Choctaw Indians

"Choctaw Timeline and Other Indigenous Peoples" is a critically researched book that draws on the available dates and events of various developments of World Indigenous peoples including the peopling of North, Central and South America.

The Choctaw Indians are one of the oldest tribes in the Americas, dating from the era of when the whooly mammoth roamed the Southeast. They are the native inhabitants of the area now comprising the states of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, and Mississippi. The book culminates with the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians whose members continue to speak their language, maintain their unique culture, and live on their indigenous land in Mississippi.

Kennith York had originally thought about writing definitive history of the Choctaw Indians but after doing some research he decided on a timeline inclusive of the world population. Choctaw Timeline presents various peoples and their participation in world civilization. The book presents an in-depth development of human beings, the migrations of people and eventual arrival in the Americas. The history of Native Americans, the State of Mississippi and Choctaw Indians is presented in a progression of dates, people and events.

It is a good prehistory/history book that will be great reference for the entire family.

A Lambda Literary Award Finalist: from "an extraordinary new voice," a "passionate and clear-eyed and unputdownable" meditation on queerness, family, and desire (Mary Karr). For as long as they can remember, Cyrus Grace Dunham felt like a visitor in their own body. Their life was a series of imitations—lovable little girl, daughter, sister, young gay woman—until their profound sense of alienation became intolerable.Moving between Grace and Cyrus, Dunham brings us inside the chrysalis of gender transition, asking us to bear witness to an uncertain and exhilarating process that troubles our most basic assumptions about who we are and how we are constituted. Written with disarming emotional intensity in a voice uniquely theirs, A Year Without a Name is a potent, thrillingly unresolved queer coming of age story.Named one of Fall 2019's Most Anticipated Books by:TimeNYLONVogueELLEBuzzfeed BustleO MagazineHarper's Bazaar

Brave, clear-eyed, and passionate, Stakes Is High is the book we need to guide us past crisis mode and through an uncertain future. The events of the past decade have forced us to reckon with who we are and who we want to be. We have been invested in a set of beliefs about our American identity: our exceptionalism, the inevitable rightness of our path, the promise that hard work and determination will carry us to freedom. But in Stakes Is High, Mychal Denzel Smith confronts the shortcomings of these stories -- and with the American Dream itself -- and calls on us to live up to the principles we profess but fail to realize. In a series of incisive essays, Smith exposes the stark contradictions at the heart of American life, holding all of us, individually and as a nation, to account. We've gotten used to looking away, but the fissures and casual violence of institutional oppression are ever-present.There is a future that is not as grim as our past. In this profound work, Smith helps us envision it with care, honesty, and imagination.

The story of the Ottoman Empire begins not with grandeur and empire-building, but with the survival and adaptation of a small Turkic tribe navigating the collapse of greater powers. In the late 13th century, the Anatolian region was a mosaic of fragmented states, weakened by internal conflict and external invasions. Among these groups were the Turks, originally Central Asian nomads, who had migrated westward in waves over centuries. Their destiny would shift dramatically with the decline of the Seljuk Sultanate of Rum and the vacuum left by the Mongol invasions, creating space for new leadership to emerge.
The Seljuks had once dominated much of Anatolia, but their weakening rule after the Mongol defeat at the Battle of Köse Dağ in 1243 left the region divided among various beyliks, or small principalities. One such principality was led by a chieftain named Ertuğrul, who had settled near the Byzantine frontier. Upon his death, leadership passed to his son, Osman, a bold and ambitious leader who would become the namesake of the Ottoman dynasty. Osman’s emergence marked a turning point, as his military successes and political acumen allowed him to consolidate power and expand his territory, laying the foundation for what would become the Ottoman Empire.
Osman I’s rise coincided with a period of instability within the Byzantine Empire, which was plagued by civil wars and weakened borders. Taking advantage of this, Osman led raids into Byzantine lands, gradually carving out a small but growing domain. More than just a warrior, Osman capitalized on the frontier spirit, attracting ghazis—Muslim warriors motivated by the idea of fighting non-Muslims. These fighters brought not only military strength but also religious legitimacy to Osman’s rule, enabling him to establish a principality that combined spiritual purpose with political ambition.

Sir Winston Leonard Spencer Churchill (November 30, 1874 - January 24, 1965) was born in Oxfordshire, England, of mixed English and American parentage. He would become a statesman, soldier, and writer who served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1940 to 1945, during the Second World War, and again from 1951 to 1955. Apart from two years between 1922 and 1924, he was a Member of Parliament from 1900 to 1964 as both a member of the Liberal Party and, later, as member and leader of the Conservative Party. Widely considered one of the 20th century's most significant figures, Churchill is seen as a victorious wartime leader who played an important role in defending Europe's liberal democracy against the spread of fascism. "We Shall Fight On The Beaches" was a speech delivered by the Churchill as Prime Minister to the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom on June 4th 1940.
