  "Encargos Comunes" se presenta como un proyecto editorial que resume, a partir de tres obras de arquitectura, la práctica e investigación desarrollada por la oficina de arquitectura Taller25 en torno a esta profesión y su vínculo con la clase media contemporánea chilena. Estas obras identifican y visibilizan tres demandas sobre la vivienda: una Construcción nueva, una Reforma y una Ampliación, realizadas en comunas que normalmente se conocen como "Pericentrales" y "Periféricas" de la región Metropolitana (Lo Prado, San Bernardo y Maipú), cuyos mandantes o dueñas/os se inscriben en lo que estadísticamente se define como la clase media, transformándose así en un compendio atípico dentro de la disciplina de la arquitectura. De esta manera, la publicación propone una discusión crítica sobre la producción de la vivienda, y no de cualquier vivienda, sino de las más comunes de todas y, paradójicamente, menos abordadas desde el campo editorial y de divulgación en el área, como pueden ser las operaciones sobre la vivienda de y para los sectores medios.

  “Does it hurt?” When you’re a tattoo artist, that’s the most universal question. For Chris MacDonald, the answer is simple: hurts less than a broken heart. Those words are painted above the entrance to his shop, Under My Thumb Tattoos, as a reminder.
  		 
  Chris and his brothers were as wild as the wind, in their house among the fields of Alliston, Ontario, when their parents divorced. Shell-shocked, they were uprooted and brought to Toronto by their dad. Their mother’s mental illness worsened in the aftermath, and she disappeared. As a teenager, Chris left home and found himself immersed in the city’s underbelly, a world where drugs, skateboarding, and punk rock reigned. Between the youth shelters, suicidal thoughts, and haunted apartments, a light shined: and it was art.

  Sir Arthur Bliss - Standing out...

  Arthur Bliss (1891–1975) was one of the most important British musicians of his age. Born into a family where music played a highly significant role, his talent emerged early. He served with distinction in the Great War, in which he was both injured and gassed. After the War he set the musical world alight with ultra-modern works, earning himself the soubriquet enfant terrible and leading to his first major work, the Colour Symphony. His dual American/British birthright led to a close connection with the USA and marriage to an American girl, Trudy Hoffman, who would be a mainstay of his life. Before long he became the most performed British composer abroad and his portfolio of works included ballet, film (H.G. Wells's Things to Come remains one of the finest film scores), opera, orchestral, chamber, choral works and song. He was a diplomat, a skill that was recognized in many appointments from the Government to travel using music as soft power, notably to Russia in 1956. He served as Director of Music at the BBC from 1942–4, was knighted and soon after appointed Master of the Queen's Music. Bliss was a private figure who stated that the only way to get to know him was through his music. Paul Spicer takes this as his starting point for this pioneering biography, which underlines the timely importance of a complete reappraisal of this important composer's music.

  Father Charles Coughlin was a controversial Canadian-American Catholic priest based in Michigan. Calling for monetary reforms, the nationalization of major industries and railroads, and protection of the rights of labor, Coughlin used weekly radio broadcasts to reach a mass audience of up to thirty million listeners during the 1930s. 
  An early supporter of Franklin D. Roosevelt and his New Deal, Coughlin later became a harsh critic. Coughlin’s commentary also became more anti-semitic, and he supported some of the fascist policies of Hitler, Mussolini, and Hirohito. As a result, many American Catholic leaders, as well as the Vatican, wanted Coughlin silenced. After the outbreak of World War II in 1939, the Roosevelt administration finally forced the cancellation of his radio program and forbade the dissemination of his newspaper, Social Justice. 
  In this recording, Coughlin first discusses Franklin D. Roosevelt, and then the consequences of World War I twenty years after.
