Summary

When Crowded House arrived with their debut album and hit single ‘Don’t Dream It’s Over’ in 1986, the seed of a unique musical journey was planted into our collective musical consciousness. The Aussie/Kiwi trio created a sound as playful as Split Enz – out of which two of its members graduated – with an adventurous spirit inspired by The Beatles and crafted genuinely enduring melodies. Earworm-worthy songs like ‘Weather With You’, ‘Distant Sun’, ‘Better Be Home Soon’ and so many others have become genre-bending and timeless creations. What began with three buddies, led by songwriter Neil Finn, playfully frolicking and mugging to the camera in music videos, developed into a band of mature artists reflecting on life, love and mortality after the death of their beloved drummer. This blossomed once again into a true family band as the younger Finns joined their father as permanent members. Along the way, Crowded House consistently churned out unforgettable melodies over eight studio albums.Bolstered by an exclusive interview with Neil Finn and including the band’s most recent album Gravity Stairs, this track-by-track exploration of their poetic lyrics and musical legacy recognises the quality that has brought them the love and admiration of music fans and fellow musicians from around the world.

This book primarily focuses on freestyle as it applies to rap. But the principles in & of themselves are universal I believe. Often after we master or even become proficient at a skill. We apply it without thinking, we “freestyle it”. These are my opinions. I’ve been freestyling professionally for 10 years, been featured on news outlets & in documentaries. This is a brief reflection on some things I’ve noticed, and what I’ve gleaned learning from others. You may find the path to your goals a different way, nothing here is concrete take what works for you. Thanks for considering what is written here :)

Ride Lonesome, the fifth film in the "Ranown cycle," is both the best and most representative of the whole series, which has been called "the most remarkable convergence of artistic achievement in the history of low-budget moviemaking." Director Bud Boetticher captures the alienation and loneliness of an America faced with the Cold War and the daily threat of nuclear annihilation. Shot in seventeen days for under a half-million dollars, Ride Lonesome is a masterpiece of cinematic minimalism.

Veteran screenwriter Kirk Ellis brilliantly unpacks the themes, narrative, visual language, and editing in this seminal film. In Ride Lonesome Ellis not only shows how this one film embodies a turning point for the Western, but he also explores the unique vision and contributions of director Boetticher and his writing partner Burt Kennedy.
