Summary

A Poetic Masterpiece of Scotland's Grit.

In the shadow of 1930's Scotland's scrumbling mining industry, Jack, a miner shattered by his son's death from pneumonia, joins desperate comrades seeking a better life on a perilous Artic Fishing boat. Silent Riders of the Sea by John Gerard Fagan is a haunting verse novel that captures the raw pulse of Scotland's working class struggle. Fagan's spare, evocative prose has been praised as "beautiful but bleak" and "powerful yet kind" and has been compared to Cormac McCarthy's. Silent Riders of The Sea has been illustrated by the Author and is an  amazing blending of Scottish working-class grit with the relentless cruelty of nature and survival on a gruesome Arctic fishing boat. Perfect for fans of nautical literature and gritty historical sagas such as Angela's Ashes

History isn’t always written to glorify the victors. Sometimes, it’s written to conceal the truth.
One such truth is that Sparta still exists today as a technologically advanced, secret civilization dedicated to protecting humankind.
When smallpox is genetically engineered into a bioweapon, Alessa, a warrior in the Spartan military, is sent to collect evidence regarding its origin. After being violently attacked, she awakens with no memory to a world infected with the very virus she had been sent to prevent.
Fueled by rage, Alessa and a mysterious Spartan warrior from her past seek revenge against those responsible for her attack, during which pieces of her memory slowly resurface from the cobwebbed corners of her fragmented mind. As the virus’s death toll rises, it’s a race against the clock for her to remember the disturbing truth behind the pandemic’s creation.
Glitched is a deliciously dark, action-packed technothriller abundant with revenge, romance, and adventure.

Victor-Marie Hugo (26 February 1802 - 22 May 1885) was a French poet, novelist, essayist, playwright, and dramatist of the Romantic movement. During a literary career that spanned more than sixty years, he wrote abundantly in an exceptional variety of genres: lyrics, satires, epics, philosophical poems, epigrams, novels, history, critical essays, political speeches, funeral orations, diaries, and letters public and private, as well as dramas in verse and prose.
BOOK 6: LE PETIT-PICPUS: Nothing, half a century ago, more resembled every other carriage gate than the carriage gate of Number 62 Rue Petit-Picpus. This entrance, which usually stood ajar in the most inviting fashion, permitted a view of two things, neither of which have anything very funereal about them, a courtyard surrounded by walls hung with vines, and the face of a lounging porter.
