Summary

An amateur sleuth hunts for dirt on a murder and three missing maids in this classic English mystery by the author of the Department Z series.

When not working at MI5, Patrick Dawlish frequently collaborates with the police to catch murderous criminals. Of course, many of the police, in turn, like to remind Dawlish that he isn’t one of them and he should keep his feet out of the murky waters of crime. Dawlish is all too happy to oblige, but Superintendent Trivett of Scotland Yard needs his help . . .

Housekeepers are disappearing in the isolated town of Terne. Three to be precise—all young women and all employed by the same man. Mr. Clive Dickerson is suspiciously aloof about the matter, especially after a woman wearing the clothes of one of the missing is found dead in a river. To determine what is going on—and locate the remaining women—Dawlish must first find someone willing to go undercover and infiltrate Dickerson’s mansion. But who could be so daring? Or so foolish?

    Dear Listeners,
Welcome to the thrilling world of "11th Sense - The Final Defence." From the very beginning, this story has been a journey of discovery and imagination—a journey I am excited to share with you.
In this age of rapid technological advancements, where humanity continuously pushes the boundaries of science and the known world, I found myself wondering: What if there were more to human potential than we could ever imagine? We often think of our five basic senses as the limits of our interaction with reality, but what if there were hidden abilities within us—senses we’ve never fully explored? And what if those senses were the key to saving the world?
That question sparked the idea for this novel. 11th Sense - The Final Defence is more than just a thriller; it’s a story of unlocking hidden potential and harnessing the full spectrum of human capabilities. It’s about a group of individuals, seemingly ordinary at first, who rise to extraordinary challenges. They discover that within them, and within all of us, lie abilities that can change not just our personal worlds but the future of humanity itself.
    Happy Listening

    o love, honour, cherish, kill...
The investigation into the murder of an investment banker reveals a hidden side to sharp-suited victim Adam Sinclair - and a cast-iron reason why someone would want him dead. The problem is DS Kevin Coupland knows the chief suspect. Not a friend in the conventional sense, but certainly the closest he’s had to one. Following his gut, Coupland pursues Dominic Neilson, a more likely suspect, and it helps that he keeps treading on Coupland's one remaining nerve. As he digs deeper he learns Dominic is guilty of an entirely different crime, one that forces Coupland to confront a trauma from his childhood.

Made To Be Broken is about survival at all costs, and whether sins of the past can ever truly be forgiven.
