Summary

A thrilling World War II–era mystery featuring famous British detective Patrick Dawlish from the Edgar Award–winning author of Death in High Places.   Captain Patrick Dawlish, an intelligence officer in His Majesty’s Army, may not officially be a policeman, but his reputation for solving crimes has spread far and wide, which is why a young French woman seeks him out. Yvonne Lejeune escaped Occupied France, made her way to England, and claims she is being followed and blackmailed by strange men.   Yvonne is not the only person trying to draw Dawlish into investigating the case. Three separate visitors have recently appealed to his fiancée for his help, all leaving the same address—a hotel that is soon engulfed in flames.   Clues lead Dawlish and his friends Ted Beresford and Tim Jeremy to a group of disgruntled government employees who were sacked for believing that Nazi spies invaded the Home Office. Frustratingly, Dawlish finds himself constantly one step behind as the case explodes into a conflagration that could destroy Britain from the inside out . . .

The next novel in the series that Kirkus Reviews characterizes as “Stephanie Plum meets the Ya-Ya Sisterhood” featuring sassy Southern private investigator Sarah Booth Delaney.

After a dog belonging to local pet activist Tilly Lawson is snatched right out of her backyard in Sunflower County, MS, Sarah Booth and the Delaney Detective Agency are up to their ears in concerned pet owners. Could Tilly's work liberating abused animals have come back to bite her, or was this a random act of dognapping?

Delaney Detective Agency has their work cut out for them, especially as a troublesome online pet detective agency tries nosing their way into the investigation. But as Sarah Booth and Tinkie start to sink their teeth into the mystery, they discover there's much more at play than they thought: neighborhood rivalries, questionable dog breeders, and an illegal dogfighting operation.

As their digging churns up dangerous attention—and with their own beloved dogs, Sweetie Pie and Chablis, possibly next in line to be dognapped—Sarah Booth and Tinkie are in a race against time to track down the thieves and return the missing pets home.

In the gritty human city of Spur Central, trouble is brewing. It always is.
The entire cosmos is about to ratchet its Great Gears and pit all sentient animals against each other in a long awaited war to see who gets to ascend to the next realm. None of that matters to Dick hu'Mar, a private investigator that's too good for his own good. When he and his sour faced partner, an ugly stinking cat, get hired by two dames in dire need of a mystery solved, they find themselves plunged into the politics and danger of this pre-steampunk world where highly leathered brawn beats against brains every day.
With little time to work--love, lives, and money, most especially money are on short supply, hu'Mar must solve the case and if he can help it, avoid getting killed himself.
This Novel is a cross between the classic Noir style of hard-boiled detective, mixed with high fantasy, in a sword and sorcery sort of way, with the hints of a steampunk era nearly upon them. This is a clean read, but one that still has a comedic and sometimes dark humor.

Lilly was seen fraternizing with Eddie Smooth, trumpeter and leader of the St. Louis Stompers—and a notorious pimp. Nola finds Lilly at the club alive and well, supposedly engaged to Eddie. That same night, the Wham Bam is set afire and Eddie is killed by gunfire, leaving Lilly on the run, a suspected murderer.

Eddie Smooth had shady dealings with Agate's wealthy elite, making plenty of enemies with motives for wanting him dead. What If Jesus Had Not Come Until Today? Who Would Follow Him? Who Would Kill Him? A fiery car crash hurls TV journalist Conrad Davis into another world exactly like ours except for one detail—Jesus Christ did not come 2,000 years ago, but today. Starting with angels heralding a birth in the back of a motel laundry room, the skeptical Davis watches the gospel unfold in today’s society as a Messiah in T-shirt and blue jeans heals, raises people from the dead, and speaks such startling truths that he captures the heart of a nation. But the young man’s actions and his criticism of the religious establishment earn him enemies as ruthless as they are powerful. An intense and thought-provoking novel, Eli strips away religious tradition to present Jesus fresh and unvarnished. With gripping immediacy, Bill Myers weaves a story whose truth will refresh your faith.
