Summary

This edition includes the following editor's introduction: The traumatic life of J. M. Barrie, source of universal creativity

Originally published in 1901, “Quality Street” (AKA Quality Street: A Comedy) is a comedy in four acts by Scottish author J. M. Barrie, written before his more famous work Peter Pan. The comedy is an adult fairy tale of sorts, brought to life by Barrie's charming imagination and ability to weave between reality and fantasy.
The original Broadway production opened in 1901 and ran for only 64 performances. The show was then produced in London, where it was a hit, running for 459 performances.

“Quality Street” tells the story of Pheobe Throssel and Valentine Brown, a young couple separated by the Neopoleonic wars. Ten years pass when Valentine returns to Quality Street as a celebrated captain, and he is greeted by a more mature, less glamorous Phoebe. When Phoebe sees the disappointment in Valentine’s face, she is emboldened to create a younger alter-ego named Miss Livvy. Phoebe, disguised as Miss Livvy, begins to attend balls and relive her youthful glory days. As she rekindles her romance with Valentine, can she juggle both personas or will her deception ruin her reputation forever?

Since her death in 2003, Nina Simone has been the subject of an astonishing number of rereleased, remastered, and remixed albums and compilations as well as biographies, films, viral memes, samples, and soundtracks. In Fantasies of Nina Simone, Jordan Alexander Stein examines the space between our collective and individual fantasies about Simone the performer, civil rights activist, and icon, and her own fantasies about herself. Stein outlines how Simone gave voice to personal fantasies through releasing dozens of covers of her white male contemporaries. With her covers of George Harrison, the Bee Gees, Bob Dylan, and others, Simone explored and claimed the power and perspective that come with race and gender privilege. Looking at examples from Simone's four-decade genre-bending career—from songbook standards, jazz, and pop to folk, junkanoo, and reggae—and at her work's many uptakes and afterlives, Stein mobilizes the psychoanalytic concept of fantasy to build a black feminist history with and for this multifaceted performing artist.

Do you know How to Talk to Anyone? Do you want to know How to Talk to Anyone?
It doesn’t have to be someone important who is speaking to us to make us feel important…or not. Even the person sitting next to us on the bus has the ability to make us feel significant, or, like we don’t matter at all. Regardless of how we may try to wiggle around it, while the ultimate goal of your communication may be to inform or express, you are never going to succeed at doing so if the person you are talking to feels you have no value for him or her.
Every (good) speaker knows that the best delivery is one that makes each person in the audience feel every word was just for him or her.
In the art of effective conversation as well as public speaking, it is imperative to take an interest in the person or persons you are talking to.
Know what they like and what they don’t like.
    Learn what interests them.
When you are uptight about speaking, be it publicly or privately, people sense your fear. While you work on getting over your anxiety of talking through measures taken in this book, you can fake it until you make it. Just pretending that you are not so nervous will help relax the person or persons you are speaking to and it might calm you as well.
Are you excited? Look no more!

Although productive imagination has played a highly significant role in (post-) Kantian philosophy, there have been very few book-length studies explicitly dedicated to its analysis.

In his new book, Saulius Geniusas develops a phenomenology of productive imagination while relying on those resources that we come across in Edmund Husserl’s, Max Scheler’s, Martin Heidegger’s, Ernst Cassirer’s, Miki Kiyoshi’s, Jean-Paul Sartre’s, Maurice Merleau-Ponty’s, and Paul Ricoeur’s writings, while also engaging in present-day philosophical discussions of the imagination. Investigating the relation between imagination and embodiment, affectivity, perception, language, selfhood, and intersubjectivity, the book provides a phenomenological conception of productive imagination, which is committed to basic phenomenological principles and which is sensitive to how productive imagination has been conceptualized in the history of phenomenology.

Against such a background, Geniusas develops a new conception of productive imagination: It is a basic modality of intentionality that indirectly shapes the human experience of the world by forming the contours of action, intuition, knowledge, and understanding. It is not so much a blind and indispensable function of the soul, but an art concealed in the body, for it springs out of instincts, drives, desires, and needs.

The author demonstrates unexpected ways in which phenomenology of productive imagination enriches our understanding of embodied subjectivity.

Ideas build and destroy civilizations. Things are not going well. The need for action is now. After thousands of years of human development, our humanity seems to be intent upon disassembling itself with WOKE, Politically Correct thought police, rejected lessons from history and art, ‘book burning’, minorities DICTATING how we live and what we MUST think, riots, homelessness or helplessness and political polarizations with open conflicts and theft in our streets. How to revitalize harmonious existence, individual respect, laws equally for us all, and spirituality either via religion or constructive logic. So to create the conditions for cooperative, harmonious, self-disciplined inter-personal life: a return to greater stability of both mind and action working together for the good of communities and an increasingly interdependent World Social Family.
This building and rebuilding process will take generations, the current alternative will be humanity’s exit which would be both painful and permanent. This need not be. We each can learn so confidently form a renewal of our children’s real future but only by rebuilding our thought processes, awareness, and understanding with and through calm debate, discussion, and sharing of mind.
Industry, agriculture, and the use of both people’s time and natural abilities matter greatly: smaller could well be far more beneficial. Creating public demand to raise output and income too often leads to waste and even harm while generating wealth for a minority, too many of whom are amoral or undeserving.
What is reality other than what we decide it to be? All stems from family upbringing, mental inputs and experiences; educational practices, understood beliefs, the free flow of ideas; respecting other's thoughts, and community actions, which all coalesce into formed concepts and so beliefs. These and more build our minds, humour, fears and needs. These are the very Bricks that Build Us

    Magic. Mayhem. Soap.
What would you do if you were a lonely lesbian with a crush on her boss who just happened upon a magical piece of soap that might make all your dreams come true? Would you end up in a threesome, sandwiched between her and your co-worker, getting served on both ends at the same time? Well, what if you really, really, really like your butt to be played with as well? Well, fine, but don't blame me for enjoying myself. Sheesh, everyone's a critic.
Anyway, this first part of Soap Magic contains awkward masturbation, less awkward lesbian flirting and enthusiastic lesbian sex with three very eager participants, one of which just happens to like anal a lot. Also contains soap magic.
