Mary Eleanor Wilkins Freeman was born in Randolph, Massachusetts on the 31st October 1852 to parents who were strict and orthodox Congregationalists.
When she was a teenager the family moved to Brattleboro, Vermont and it was there she finished her education and began writing verse and stories for children.
When the family’s dry-goods store closed in 1873 the family, now impoverished, returned to Randolph where her mother was to die mother three years later.
She published ‘The Ghost Story’ in 1881 after it won a short story competition. With elements of the supernatural and domestic realism she had hit upon a solid formula for success.
Two years later her father died and with no immediate family and only a small estate she now committed to writing full-time to secure an income. For the times it was a brave move but her undoubted talent meant success would follow.
Over her career she published more than two dozen volumes of short stories and novels and is most well-known for ‘A New England Nun’. Her works were mainly set in New England and many of her female characters are strong and assertive, challenging contemporary stereotypes over their then roles, values and relationships in society. As a feminist she was keen to engage her audience in a discussion about the lack of control women had over many issues including the family finances.
A meeting with the younger Dr. Charles Manning Freeman began a slow, decade long, courtship that endured many obstacles and delays until they eventually married on New Years Day, 1902.
They built a home in Metuchen, where Mary was something of a local celebrity. Sadly her husband suffered from alcoholism and addiction to sleeping powders, fast horses and was also prone to womanizing. He was committed to the New Jersey State Hospital for the Insane and with that the couple separated. After his death in 1923, he left his estate to his chauffeur and one dollar to Mary.
On 13th March 1930, Mary E Wilkins Freeman suffered a fatal heart attack in Metuchen. She was 77.

The secrets of Stonehaven won’t stay buried for long. I’ve barely had time to wrap my head around the revelations doled out by my gargoyle sire when a knock at my dorm door brings a blast from the not-so-distant past back into my life. I thought I’d left Levi behind. I was wrong. He’s here for me, and things are about to get complicated. But convincing Levi that I’ve moved on without revealing that Serath is my fated mate isn’t the only challenge I’m facing. With the elite trials mere weeks away, I need to make sure that I’m physically and mentally prepared, and that involves training directly with Serath—the object of my forbidden desire. Focusing won’t be easy, but I’ll need to find a way, because failure is not an option. Failure, means death. Cam's adventure continues in The Stone Secret. A heart-pounding MF paranormal romance that weaves a tale of fated mates and impossible desires, where dark secrets and forbidden passions collide, and a hidden destiny awaits.

A powerful young woman must restore peace to the land—and herself—in this Arabian Nights-style fantasy for fans of Bradley Beaulieu and N. K. Jemisin.

In the rival kingdoms of Ambar and Aleyn, gods walk among mortals in the form of human icons, carrying out their whims and waging untold chaos . . .
Having decimated the city of Jhosch, Aleynian icon Eiren flees to the wilderness of the Ambarian north. She finds solace in a distant sanctuary, trying to make peace with the knowledge that she embodies Theba, the goddess of destruction.
Soon, though, there is more devastation on the horizon: an imposter has declared herself the Dread Goddess in Eiren's place and rallied the Ambarian army to destroy Aleyn. Traveling to cut them off and save her family's kingdom, Eiren works to uncover the secrets of her past and keep Theba in check―all while consumed by memories of Gannet, the Ambarian icon she left behind.
Eiren's journey takes her back to the haunted ruins of Re'Kether, an ancient city at the heart of a kingdom their warring peoples once shared. Now she must reconcile who she knows she is―a gentle-souled storyteller―with the monstrous Dread Goddess who dwells within.

It’s been almost a year since Sheriff Jayne O’Shea arrived in Whispering Pines. Deciding to stay was the best decision she ever made, but the closer the anniversary gets, the gloomier she feels.

It doesn’t help that she and Tripp have been arguing. Neither does the dense fog blanketing the village. Or the group of cranky wedding planners staying at the B&B. Trying to organize an outdoor event when the weather won’t cooperate is understandably stressful, but their constant bickering is pushing everyone to the edge.

Then, as the fog grows impossibly thicker, things take a turn for the worse when a villager becomes gravely ill. The cause is a mystery, but the rumor going around is that she was hexed or cursed. Considering half the residents are witches, that isn’t surprising. While Jayne doesn't believe magic is involved, she’s positive about her suspect. Now, all she needs is proof.
